So you don't need to prep, build a VIABLE bugout bag/plan & have emergency cash?

The storm is passing thru my area this morning and like I've said before.  It's a non-issue.  More like a fall storm.  Lots of rain, a bit of wind but no worries. We see this shit all the time.  If I had no internet access I'd think it was just another rain shower and not a Tropical Storm.

Having said all that I'm also drinking in pics of people fleeing the flooding in Houston. What do they all have in common? Let's make a quick list...

1. Not one of them seems dressed for the occasion.  Shorts in flood waters? Short sleeve shirts?

2. Not one of them seems to have more than a small DAYPACK worth of gear with them. Those are the more "forward" thinking of the crowd too. Too many of them HAVE NOTHING!  Of course I can understand that too. If you have to depend on others to get you out of dodge then they wouldn't want their boats loaded down with extra gear....that takes up space that another rescuee could use.

3. This is the worst part in my opinion. The evacuee centers, better called refugee centers are already filled.

My question to my readers is simple.

NOW DO YOU GET THE FORCE OF CONNECTION!

NOW DO YOU SEE WHY YOU NEED TO PREP BUILD A VIABLE BUGOUT BAG/PLAN & HAVE EMERGENCY CASH?

The pic above was grabbed off the internet and shows what they call a "family" bugout kit.  Of course it's being sold as a package, and preparedness has become a multi-million dollar business.

It gets worse.

Depending on your "interests" you can see bags that are tilted in particular directions and would serve no practical purpose at all.  I point to the shooting community and the "instructors" that inhabit it/feed off it.

Yeah.  A bugout bag that has an AR, fighting knife, gas mask, zip ties and a few protein bars?

Is the dude going on patrol or trying to get to safety?

But back on task. Lesson learned from this one is to leave soon enough, prepack a decent bag that contains food, water, medicine, clothing and a means to protect yourself (all are important and must be covered), and have emergency cash and a pre-planned site to get to that moves you away from the zone of destruction.

So in short?

You MUST build a viable bugout chest (wheeled), have a viable plan and have emergency cash.
