China's engineering prowess...HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge opens to traffic

That my friends is one long ass bridge!  As many have talked about, the US might have military supremacy but the Chinese without a doubt have REGIONAL superiority and its only increasing.

Now we have a new factor to consider.

How do you properly assess the Chinese ability to build large scale construction projects into their military capability?  The obvious is that they can toss up a port or airport twice the size that our own vaunted SeaBees can construct in at least the same time if not faster.

I imagine that the real power here will be found if the Chinese ever find themselves in a COIN operation to support a friendly govt.  They will be able to easily rebuild, bypassing the red tape that we face at low cost.

The weird thing is that the Chinese might be able to out COIN us just because they have this ability (assuming the COIN mafia and their civic construction mantra is right).

Regardless.  This is an impressive achievement.
