Saab Receives Order for AESA X-band Fighter Array

via Saab Press Release.
Saab has received an order from the United States Government for X-band Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology.

The AESA technology has its base in fighter applications, a release from Saab said without specifying the nature of application for which the technology was purchased by the US.

“This order is yet another proof of Saab’s gallium nitride based AESA radar development and further strengthens our offer of advanced radars and sensors”, says Anders Carp, head of Saab’s business area Surveillance.

The latest Gripen E/F fighter jet comes equipped with a SELEX ES-05 RAVEN AESA radar.
This is why I'm a Saab fanboy.  But it might be time to be a stockholder.  My guess is that both Lockheed and Boeing are eyeing the company quite lustfully.

But back on topic.

It's beyond obvious that Saab has cracked the code on something quite unique and pretty damn sought after.

They're selling their GaN AESA arrays like hotcakes.  Makes me really believe that they must have found the secret sauce to detecting stealth.

What remains to be seen is whether or not this is part of the "top secret" not to be released upgrade path for the F-35 (side note...that's a total crock of shit...they won't release the price tag because its "proprietary"???  are they really trying to sell that and why would Congress allow such idiocy...this program is fraudulent as hell!).
