A few more thoughts on Ukraine (as things stand now)

 My evolving thinking on Ukraine...

(1)

The Ukrainian leadership has been borderline insane.  They had Nazi Brigades as part of their force.  They have demanded to be part of NATO (even though they understand their history with the former USSR).  They stated that the US/EU/NATO was being alarmist when word first came out about possible Russian actions.

(2)

Ukrainians know their history. Understand their relationship to Russia.  Why didn't they forget joining NATO and insist on neutrality?  I'm not sure this would have prevented all this but maybe?

(3)

I personally feel that another shot across the bow of forward deployment has been launched. I do my best to keep up and the number of exercises that NATO runs has been borderline obscene. Forward deployed forces that operate with vacillating political leadership is useless.  I have to wonder.  If Russia decided to attack Poland, would those forward deployed forces matter? If Poland could not repulse the attack how long would it take NATO to mobilize to take back the country?

(4)

Every country on that continent outside of France is begging for US troops.  The EU needs to wrap its brains around the sorry facts.  Its unsustainable!  They're gonna have to get serious about their own defense or risk losing it all.

(5)

Despite all the talking heads and sermons being preached the American people ARE NOT behind taking action in Ukraine.

(6)

Those sanctions are gonna come back and bite us all HARD!!! By Nov (assuming the sanctions remain intact) I believe we will be in a full blown recession.  I don't understand the mechanism behind it but I even heard a report about fears of deflation (don't understand that with rising prices but I gotta work out and don't have time to look it up).

Got more but I'm going lift.  Talk to ya'll soon.  Tell me how right or wrong I am.
