KNDS Centurio unmanned ground combat vehicle

If unmanned vehicles (whether air, land or sea) is all about software then why are we developing all these new platforms to carry weapons? On the ground side we have a metric shit ton of M113s, Humvees, 2.5 ton trucks, 5 ton trucks, etc...laying around rusting. Need a ship to shore cargo delivery UGV? Put some software on AAVs and have them swim instead of rusting in a depot! Need high speed drones? Refurb a few F-16s and set them up to be one way supersonic delivery platforms! Are we making the simple hard?
