Geez man. If that isn't damn near a click and paste copy of the cancelled USMC EFV then I don't know what it is!
Sad fact and I didn't glob onto it at the time.
Ya know why we wound up with the ACV. A non-tracked amphibian that WILL (already has) gotten hung up on the beach?
Because we had one Commandant that was pushing his "air centric" solution for amphibious assault, a brief return to sanity (partial) and then the next Commandant basically saying fuck amphibious assault we're gonna be a sense and make sense outfit.
Meanwhile, no other Marine Corps in the world is abandoning the mission they're simply adding missiles to their formations (they don't have a US Army, Air Force and Navy to provide them with long distance strike) and staying in their lane of focus.
Seeing how fast the S. Koreans move on armored projects I would bet that this beast will be in production by at least 2033 if not sooner.
Consistency matters. The modern day Marine Corps has jerked into pieces trying to anticipate what future warfare will be. We've been inconsistent and its hurting us across the board.
New concepts of operation pulled out of asses ain't the way to go.
