One other note about this thing. Decapitation strikes are fool's gold. Want more? Forward basing is fool's gold. Sounds good on paper but limits your options. We knocked off Iran's leadership during the start of this fight and all it led to was chaos. Who do you negotiate with if you kill most of their established leadership? The answer is no one. You have a target entity that is struggling to find new leadership while you play diplomat at the UN or wherever else.๐ฎ๐ท๐บ๐ธThe economic and military backbone of the Iranian regime has just been systematically severed—as catastrophic U.S. precision airstrikes completely isolate the country’s most vital maritime chokepoint, plunging Tehran into an existential crisis.

Next this forward basing is idiocy on steroids. Imagine going against a country that has a VERY robust missile capability (even more than Iran's) or has been stockpiling drones since the start of the Ukraine war? All those forward bases are is targets to be hit. Unmovable, very open targets that you can't at this time provide enough anti-air coverage to (thanks US Air Force....didn't ya'll promise air dominance?).
We need to have our forward basing consist of either being aboard ship or in the air. Preferably in the air. A couple of dozen 747's acting as flying command posts is a much better option than having our stuff wide open.
Even better would be a few long endurance, high flying, relatively fast UAVs that act as communication relays along with a constellation of sats so that our regional commands can be setup in the US and send out orders from an ocean away.
This is still good news for the corporations though. Those rebuilding contracts for Iran just went up in value.
War is a racket.
