The US Army does this for graduation from boot camp. I think its a bit tone deaf...

Man. In this case what if his people are from a poor village and can't afford to attend his graduation. For the US side the same applies. Unless they're offering free transportation then its a kick in the ass for recruits from poor families. Of course it could be something even more irksome for the recruit. Broken families, no family, estranged family...the list kinda goes on.

This part of their graduation needs to be shit canned.
