I had to do an internet search to make sure this was true and it is. The story of the great flood is found in cultures all over the world. The most interesting thing? These different tellings of the same event happened before the influence of christianity arrived! In many history classes the bible is used as a historical, not religious document. Never locked in on that but it makes sense. Ancient documentation is ancient documentation regardless of the source or your belief system.

Every ancient culture tells the same story, in the same order. First came the giants. Then the waters. Hebrew: the Nephilim walk the earth, then the Flood. Greek: Ovid writes that the blood of the defeated Giants bred a violent race of men, so Zeus drowned the world. Norse: Ymir’s blood floods the world and drowns every frost giant except one, Bergelmir, who escapes in a boat. Inca: Viracocha creates a race of giants, is displeased, and wipes them out with a flood. Aztec: the giant Xelhua survives the flood and builds the Great Pyramid of Cholula. Five civilizations. Oceans apart. Same order of events. Call it the Flood. Call it the Younger Dryas. I call it the Geophysical Event. Every culture remembers who was standing here before it.
