Interesting isn't it. I was always told that the Buffalo was the most dangerous animal in Africa followed by the Hippo. I don't think Elephants even made the top 5. After seeing this momma Elephant destroy this Buffalo I think some lists need to be revived.

10 Ancient Battles That Ended Empires
via listverse.
The Battle of Muye was fought between the tribes of Zhou against the Shang Dynasty for control over China. The Zhou army consisted of 50,000 skilled soldiers, while the much stronger Shang forces exceeded 530,000, with an additional 170,000 armed slaves. The Shang slaves defected to the Zhou, which greatly demoralized the remaining soldiers, many of whom also defected. The ensuing battle was fierce, and the Shang forces were easily defeated by the better-trained Zhou.Here.
When the battle was over, the Shang Dynasty was destroyed, and the Zhou Dynasty was established. King Di Xin of the Shang Dynasty immolated himself following the defeat, leaving China open for rule by the Zhou. The Zhou Dynasty holds the distinction of being the longest-reigning dynasty in Chinese history.
Nice quick read on ancient battles. Good stuff.
Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps sending assets to the US & Europe.
via Free Beacon.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps, the country’s elite military force, is sending assets to infiltrate the United States and Europe at the direction of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to recent Farsi-language comments from an Iranian military leader. To be expected. A terrorist nation does terrorist shit.
The IRGC “will be in the U.S. and Europe very soon,” according to the Iranian military commander, who said that these forces would operate with the goal of bolstering Iran’s hardline regime and thwarting potential plots against the Islamic Republic.
“The whole world should know that the IRGC will be in the U.S. and Europe very soon,” Salar Abnoush, deputy coordinator of Iran’s Khatam-al-Anbia Garrison, an IRGC command front, was quoted as saying in an Iranian state-controlled publication closely tied to the IRGC.

Crazy Rumor? Several City PD's going on tactical alert for the election?
This is just rumor central stuff but I was told by a credible individual that several city PD's in my state as well as the State Police were going on tactical alert for the election on Tuesday.
Has anyone else heard of this happening where they live? Is this just craziness being pushed my way or is there a bit of meat on these bones?

Remember the AVX Aircraft Concept?
Do you remember the AVX Aircraft Concept? I wonder if they're still around and if anyone at the Pentagon is taking a serious look at their work? The reason why I ask is because you know the Chinese will if we don't. Do you recall the video from the Chinese air show and the armored vehicle demonstration? If you do then take a careful look at the small MRAP that they displayed. I made a big deal about them shamefully and obviously copying the F-35 in the design of the J-31. What I failed to mention is that they did the same with Force Protection Cheetah.
My concern is this. We might toss this away in favor of tilt rotors and wake up to skies filled with AVX's concept. If they deliver half of what's promised in the video then we're looking at a relatively cheap, high performance lifter that we turned down.

Vid of that Russian Helicopter incident in Syria.
Thanks to Carlos for the link!
This is another of those issues that I saw being discussed on the blog that was interesting but at the same time rather routine. Pics are all over the place but this is the first time I've seen the video.
My view is that it's interesting but still kinda routine. The Russians have professionals in their military. We knew that. They had a hairy situation, did the hard thing and came out the otherside. I kinda expected that too.
