LSU beats Bama! STTDB!!!!

Open Comment Post. 10 Nov 2019

Note!  I post alot of sci-fi, fantasy etc...on the open comments.  Alot of it is just shit an artist thinks up and it might be part of a video game, a sci-fi book cover etc.

Don't take it seriously!  WTF am I talking about?  Well a bit of the reaction to the post yesterday seemed to indicate that the USAF was actually looking at a stealth A-10 replacement.  If they are I have no info on such a thing.  So what did I post?  Just a bit of fun.

Happy Birthday Marines!

After BREXIT, 80% of NATO will come from outside the EU! Have I underestimated the US-UK team?

Read this tweet.

Read the article and I was knocked to my knees.  The US-UK team has been GREATLY underestimated by yours truly.

I knew of the relationship militarily but got lost in the weeds by much of the talk that I've seen inside the UK with regard to their feelings about the US.

I guess once you get past that noise the truth is glaring.

The US-UK team is indeed formidable.

Add a couple more reliable allies and you have the makings of a hyper lethal mix of combat power.  I'm thinking the Aussies (of course), along with maybe Japan (S. Korea seems a bit fickle lately) and as sauce for the goose (although unlikely) Singapore and that would be all that would be needed to maintain a new hegemony that could ensure global prosperity.

Probably won't happen but as things stand the US along with the UK is more than good enough.

Germany set to increase its number of Leopard 2 Main Battle Tanks to 400...

YF-23 reborn as an A-10 replacement!

USMC unmanned/manned MTVR and JLTV self propelled howitzer/MLRS

I wonder where Caesar found these.  I don't recall seeing them before.  Pics from the tweet below.

Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank going with a smoothbore gun going forward?

Wow.

The Brits are on a roll it would seem.  The British Army is actually going to dump the rifled barrel and going smoothbore?

Just wow.

So this little ditty is actually gonna be?

'47 Commando (Raiding), Royal Marines...the Royal Marines are going full MARSOC...

Note the above tweet from the Commandant Of Marines (Royal Marines).  Now check out this snippet from an article I read earlier this week.

via Special Ops.org
The need for a full rebrand of the British Royal Marines comes as commanders of the 350-year-old Corps seek to end the blurring with Army counterparts and adopt a more “commando raid” approach, with smaller units using hi-tech kit.

The future Royal Marines plans will see the green berets provide more direct support to British Special Operations Forces. A very first move should be positioning of units onboard of the pre-positioned motherships, ready to strike in areas such as the Mediterranean and the Gulf. Other plans should include the wider integration of autonomous platforms, such as remote-controlled vessels and drones, while, at the tactical level, they are to be issued with a new digitally-enhanced camouflage combat uniform which will be distinctive to them.

Though only some Royal Marines now have access to the superior Colt C7 rifle, the move will see it rolled out to all members and mark the Corp’s ditching of the standard-issue SA-80. As part of the push to return to its maritime role, discussions are currently underway to change officers’ rankings to match those of the Royal Navy, rather than the British Army, though this is still under review.

What has been decided, however, is that they will retain their iconic green beret and cap badge.
------------

Further plans include adoption of a more “special operations” approach by using more and smaller units, complemented by technology such as the use of remote-controlled boats to set up a decoy while another unit speeds ashore with a remote-operated UAV to help identify their targets. This has to be reached within the next three years.

The other major change is related to the basic Royal Marines unit, a Troop. It will be reduced from 30 operators to 16.

The regiment currently operates one specialist maritime unit, 42 Commando, which is deployed in small groups in areas such as the Gulf and mounts maritime interdiction operations against piracy and to protect shipping from potential Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.

But now Maj-Gen Holmes wants the entire 3 Commando Brigade – the Royal Marines’ main fighting arm –  to become a special operations force, similar to its USMC counterpart, Express reported.
Here.

I'm gobsmacked.

Read the entire article but it would appear that the Royal Marines are taking cues from the USMC in its planning and MARSOC in its formation.

I never would have thought I'd see such a thing.

Maybe HQMC needs more credit than I'm giving them.

Royal Marines exploring the use of armed unmanned ground vehicles disembarking from landing craft...

Milrem must be loving this.  Are they that good or are they simply early to the market?

Regardless the USMC would be wise to piggyback off the Army's effort in this field.

Imagine an LCAC dropping 6 Textron Ripsaw M5's on the beach while an ACV platoon swims ashore from 3 miles out after doing an instream launch from a few other LCACs!  The Ripsaw's either secure the perimeter or blast forward to the objective, wait and provide route security or even carry out diversionary attacks on a different target!

Haven't been a fan of robotic vehicles but the die is cast so we must boldly charge into the future.

How about a few experiments HQ USMC?  I'm sure the US Army and/or Textron would let us borrow a few!

Marine Commandant Responds to Backlash over Lack of Women in Birthday Video...No Bended Knee With This Guy!!!!

via Military.com
But Commandant Gen. David Berger told Military.com that he isn't losing any sleep over the backlash.

"We made a video that celebrates Marines," Berger said Wednesday after an event hosted by Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington. "We did not break it down frame-by-frame, how many males versus how many females. And I don't plan to do that."

All Marines are entitled to their opinion, Berger added, and he's listening to what they have to say.
Story here.

Just plain wow.

And just like that this guy has me grinning like a fanboy!  Freaking awesome. Enough of this bended knee nonsense!

Remember when a female CongressCritter chided the last Commandant like a whipped puppy and he simply bowed his head?

Enough of that trash.

Refreshing and encouraging!
