Open Comment Post. 23 Feb 2020.

Saw one of these cruising around a soybean field.  Is this the ultimate all terrain small vehicle? It was loaded down with tools and other gear and seemed to float over broken ground.  Should the military look at "Americanizing" these mini-trucks instead of using ATVs for light logistics??? Oh and for us now civilians the bubba said that its twice as good during hunting season!

Politics Talk. Bernie is scaring the dogshit outta the Dems...but why?

This is curious.  The Dem leadership (to include members of the media) appear scared shitless by Bernie possibly being the nominee.  But why? At the same time they're recoiling from a possible Bernie at the top of the ticket they keep saying that the party is moving left.  So why the fear?  From my chair it just doesn't make any sense.  Anyone have any ideas?

Force Recon ski hikes in Norway...video by Cpl. Aaron Douds

I've never done this.  Looks tiring as all get out.  I might be wrong but I imagine your legs are burning after just a few miles of this.  Anyone been there done that can confirm my suspicions?

Cold Response 2020 is a go and it looks like US Marines will be there...

I must be suffering from exercise overload because I really believed that the USMC would be skipping this exercise because of real world commitments.

Looks like I was wrong.  The USMC is the only military force I know of that operates the MTVR and I saw them in the vid.  Maybe reserves?

Things Are Not Looking Good for Stopping the Coronavirus

via Gizmodo.
The prospect that the new coronavirus, whose outbreak has been so far largely confined to China, could become a pandemic is seeming more likely today. This week, several countries have reported local clusters of the disease outside of mainland China, suggesting the virus is freely circulating there. Meanwhile, a new report estimates that only a third of cases that have left China’s borders are being documented at all.

On Friday, South Korean health officials reported a dramatic jump in cases of COVID-19, as the disease is officially known. There are currently 204 cases, more than double the number reported the day before. Iran’s Health Ministry reported 13 new cases on Friday, bringing Iran’s total up to 18, along with four deaths. Italy reported six new cases, all of which were not connected to travel from China.

Ok.  They're slow walking the news but it seems that the media is coming around to my thinking.  This thing will become a pandemic.

Side question.  How long does the UH-1Y survive once the Army makes its choice for its Light Attack Helicopter?  I'm guessing it'll probably survive since the requirements are modest but who knows.

One thing I haven't checked on (and I probably should) is whether or not the Army is gonna make the thing ship board compatible.  They're going multi-domain so getting Army aviation capable of being feet wet should be part of the mix.

Senang has a good look at this unusual rifle.  The ergonomics look off to me but to each his own.  Check out a nice article on the rifle here.

We're all focused on the Coronavirus and Syria...meanwhile the Houthis are taking it to the Saudi Kingdom

via Times of Islamabad.
Saudi Arabia has intercepted missiles fired towards its cities by Houthis in neighbouring Yemen, the Riyadh-led military coalition said, in the militant group’s latest cross-border attack.

A Houthi spokesman quoted by the Al-Masirah TV said Friday the group had targeted oil installations in the kingdom with 12 Sammad-3 drones, two cruise missiles and a ballistic missile.

Wow.  We're all looking at Syria or focused on the Coronavirus while the Houthis are stepping up their attacks against the Saudi Kingdom.

Have you noticed how info on that war has dried up?

Fighting season is coming soon and I would bet we're seeing the beginning of the end of the Saudi adventure.  What remains to be seen is if the Houthis pursue them back to their homeland.  My guess is yes.  Leaving enemies alive is not a practice in the Middle East.
