Wow. Another 6,000 medical persons head to Wuhan? I would imagine they're starting a rotation but do you do that in an outbreak? Once medical personnel go to the epicenter of the disaster don't they stay till it's over?
This seems important but I don't know the implications. Anyone have any ideas?

I am sorry to hear this. It does raise interesting questions. This dude ain't old. I thought this only affected the young and the old. Another thing is how long was he sick? He sounded the alarm about the virus so I would assume that he safeguarded himself. So WTF happened!
The more I see the more convinced I am that the Chinese don't have this thing under control. Additionally I get the feeling that even today, the Western world is behind the curve on PROPERLY reacting to this issue.

Wow. My heart goes out to her. I wonder what would happen in the US if this thing goes full blown? What are the plans to contain the outbreak?
Trying to lock down a major city like they've done in China is out of the question. Could the supply chain hold up (stores operate on the "just in time" model)?
Could US hospitals handle the additional patients? Could law enforcement handle the panic?
Confidence is not high in any of the above. I hope this doesn't hit hard.

Lewis Burwell Puller Jr. was the son of Lt. General Lewis "Chesty" Puller, the most decorated Marine in the history of the U.S. Marine Corps. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a Marine officer.Here.
Puller graduated high school from Christchurch School in Christchurch, Virginia, in 1963 and from the College of William and Mary in 1967.[2] He received orders to South Vietnam in July 1968, where he served as an Infantry Platoon Commander for three months. On October 11, 1968, his rifle jammed during an engagement with North Vietnamese troops; Puller was wounded when he tripped a booby-trapped howitzer round, losing his right leg at the hip, his left leg above the knee, his left hand and most of his fingers on his right hand in the explosion.[2]
The shell riddled his body with shrapnel, and he lingered near death for days with his weight dropping to 55 pounds, but he survived. Puller later recalled the first time his father saw him in the hospital. He described how his father broke down weeping and that hurt him more than any of his physical injuries. Those who knew him say that it was primarily because of his iron will and his stubborn refusal to die that he survived. He was medically discharged from the Marine Corps. He was awarded the Silver Star Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, two Purple Heart Medals, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross for his service in the Marine Corps.[3]
For years after he returned to a reasonably sound physical condition, the emotional ground underneath him remained shaky, though he earned a law degree, had two children with the woman he had married before going to Vietnam, and raised a family. He was admitted to the Virginia Bar in 1974 and began working as a lawyer for the Veteran's Administration and on President Gerald Ford's clemency board.[4] He mounted a campaign for Congress in 1978 as a Democrat in Virginia but lost in a landslide with only 28% of the vote against incumbent Republican Congressman Paul Trible.[4] Throughout the years, he battled periods of despondency and drank heavily until 1981, when he underwent treatment for alcoholism. Despite that treatment, Puller continued to suffer severe depression and occasional bouts of alcoholism.
Think I'm gonna have to read his book. Dude really went thru it. Hope he's finally found peace.

I AM SO TIRED of our guys getting hurt and killed in these forever wars. What is the deal here? Doesn't the Pentagon see that what we're doing isn't working? Even worse? They're wedded to a few concepts and won't change or adapt them to fit the situation in the region....20 years of failure...it's past time to go.

Brazil mulls upgrades for VBTP-MSR Guarani 6×6 vehicles

The Brazilian Army is finalising a series of studies aimed at improving the VBTP-MSR Guarani 6×6 armoured vehicle.
The studies are being done by personnel from the army's technical, administrative, operational, and finance sectors, and are to consider updates and potentially adding new technologies, the army told Jane's .
The army declined to say if the upgrade studies included the vehicle's mobility, command and control, survivability, firepower, or habitability. The army said the project's scope is to be defined after studies are concluded and a decision is made. The effort, known as the Guarani 2.0 project, falls under the aegis of 'Army Strategic Plan 2020-2023'.
The service is receiving 1,580 6×6s as part of the Guarani programme that purchased the vehicles in November 2016 to complement 203 platforms ordered between 2012 and 2015 from Iveco Defence Vehicles. The vehicle is manufactured at the company's plant of Sete Lagoas in the State of Minas Gerais.
A total of 424 6×6s were received, the army said. Between 5 and 6 vehicles are produced monthly and about 60 annually, a spokesperson for Iveco Defence Vehicles' Brazilian operation told Jane's . Deliveries are scheduled to be completed by 2040.
The programme, which involves other armoured vehicles efforts, contributes to transforming Brazil's motorised infantry units into mechanised infantry units, and to modernise the mechanised cavalry.
Twelve versions are currently planned: reconnaissance vehicle, troop carrier, 120 mm mortar carrier, recovery vehicle, command-post vehicle, ambulance, air-defence, repair, anti-tank missile carrier, surveillance radar carrier, fire direction centre, and forward-observation vehicle. Development of a mortar variant VBCMrt-MSR (Viatura Blindada de Combate Morteiro-Média Sobre Rodas) is a top priority, with one prototype and 100 production vehicles planned.
