Getting reports that Putin says he's authorized military action in Ukraine. THE FIGHT IS ON.

Gonna be a long night for soldiers on both sides.

I've written about it enough.  I still don't think this is our fight but we will get hit with the fallout (congrats to the hawks).

But ignore all that.

Tonight people will die.  People will be in agony for years and might never truly recover from the mental trauma.

Suffering will be on display not for leadership of either side but for the poor souls carrying a weapon fighting for what he thinks is right.

Pray for them all.

War is a racket.

Hopefully the USMC will piggyback on this purchase.

Sen Rubio is saying the invasion is on NOW!

Dude gets classified briefings and can't keep his damn mouth shut. Please don't re-elect this ass hat.

Global Hawks are running race tracks around Ukraine and a Turk A400M made a run into Kyiv!

Those ballsy Turk bastards. Pretty damn bold to zoom in like that with war imminent. Turks are crazy. Glad to have them on our side.

SecState Blinken thinks the invasion is tonight!

Russia says airspace is closed till May 18!

They're going big boys.

They're about to gobble up the whole damn country.

I luv MilTwitter! Need a Russian speaker to tell what this supposed Russian Navy transmission in the open is all about

Zelensky. At the beginning almost arrogant. Now? He appears to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

I'm trying to think how "rulers" of nations respond when impending doom is upon them.

I'm not sure.  But Zelensky looks like the walking dead.  I wonder what its like to be led by someone that is convinced he's gonna lose before the battle begins (I believe he's right but damn it you have to at least fake it for your people!).

At the end of the day, leadership counts!  This dude is failing the test.

Kim Komando is giving some "prepping" advice

I so wish I knew how to embed that one minute Kim Komando take on this but linking will have to do(What happens if Russia retaliates and the internet goes down?).

Short summary?

Expect disruptions if Russia decides to retaliate.  Expect ATMs to go down, websites to get hit...basically a number of things (power grid?).

In other words Kim is saying things could go sideways.

Her recommendation?

Keep some cash on hand.  One month of medicine. Didn't hear a thing about stocking food but she did mention to keep your gas tanks at least half full.

The weird thing?

Kim is kinda liberal.  She follows the crowd and pretty much piggybacks on hot button issues in the tech sector.

My point?

If she's giving this advice then someone in the govt is saying it.  Probably not loudly but its being said in the background so that if the bad stuff happens they have plausible deniability.

The clearest sign this thing is about to kick off in a big way....

Thanks to Vodkár Kurvenár for the link!

A few more thoughts on Ukraine (as things stand now)

 My evolving thinking on Ukraine...

(1)

The Ukrainian leadership has been borderline insane.  They had Nazi Brigades as part of their force.  They have demanded to be part of NATO (even though they understand their history with the former USSR).  They stated that the US/EU/NATO was being alarmist when word first came out about possible Russian actions.

(2)

Ukrainians know their history. Understand their relationship to Russia.  Why didn't they forget joining NATO and insist on neutrality?  I'm not sure this would have prevented all this but maybe?

(3)

I personally feel that another shot across the bow of forward deployment has been launched. I do my best to keep up and the number of exercises that NATO runs has been borderline obscene. Forward deployed forces that operate with vacillating political leadership is useless.  I have to wonder.  If Russia decided to attack Poland, would those forward deployed forces matter? If Poland could not repulse the attack how long would it take NATO to mobilize to take back the country?

(4)

Every country on that continent outside of France is begging for US troops.  The EU needs to wrap its brains around the sorry facts.  Its unsustainable!  They're gonna have to get serious about their own defense or risk losing it all.

(5)

Despite all the talking heads and sermons being preached the American people ARE NOT behind taking action in Ukraine.

(6)

Those sanctions are gonna come back and bite us all HARD!!! By Nov (assuming the sanctions remain intact) I believe we will be in a full blown recession.  I don't understand the mechanism behind it but I even heard a report about fears of deflation (don't understand that with rising prices but I gotta work out and don't have time to look it up).

Got more but I'm going lift.  Talk to ya'll soon.  Tell me how right or wrong I am.

Pro-Russian citizens in 3rd Ukrainian oblast of Kharkiv (Ukraine's 3rd city after Kiev & Donesk) call for Putin to "rescue" them from Ukraine

You thought it was just gas that was gonna rise? Remember Ukraine is the "bread basket"

There is a reason why the Biden administration and a FEW talking heads are now speaking about sacrifice here at home. These sanctions aren't just gonna hit the EU and Russia. America is gonna take another body blow from this drama.

Remember those in both parties that are pushing for this in Nov.

The globalist/security hawks/foreign policy/Euro-philes are setting up the world for another gut punch.

Hope "freedom" and all the other garbage they're shoving down your throat is worth it.

This is just politics by another name and as usual the little guys and gals are about to bear the brunt of the game those in power are playing.

Note.  I'm getting tired of the ongoing crisis mode we seem to be locked in.  Since day 1 of the Trump admin we've been under some kind of threat or another.  Democracy is under threat from Russian meddling, Covid deniers are threatening their fellow man, the list goes on.  I personally refuse to stay in crisis mode for these IDIOTS.

Sergei had a bad day...

Taliban is still committing attrocities

Interesting.

Did you know on MSNBC there are some that are calling for aid to this country?  The Taliban is conducting a cleansing of their country, still killing people in the streets and we have Americans that want us to re-engage on humanitarian grounds.

Amazing.

It's terrible.  It's sad.  But the Afghans had 20 years to get their act together and failed.

Now?

Now it's not our business.  We have issues at home.

Pentagon hides quadrupling of value of F-35 logistics contract to $2.1 billion

Inflation will kill any plus up of the budget. Congress will pass a bigger budget, inflation will eat into it, the services will fight over a shrinking pie and national security hawks just made European defense primary while China sits back and chills. We're led by idiots.

Led by idiots on the economy, foreign policy and national security.

STOP IT! Stop trying to couple Ukraine with Taiwan!

A few things from watching a bit of coverage of the Ukraine issue.

(1)

Stop coupling Ukraine with Taiwan.  WE HAVE A DEFENSE PACT WITH TAIWAN!  We don't have one with Ukraine!  Linking the two issues is just plain dumb.  China isn't watching Ukraine and thinking "wow, we can invade now".  That's idiocy.

(2)

Understand that troops being on alert in NATO is just window dressing for the masses.  There has been NO INDICATION that Russia has any ambitions beyond Ukraine.  The globalist and national security hawks are all aflutter but its just a lot of noise and NOTHING else.

(3)

NATO is impotent.  It's an organization from a bygone era.  The entire Western Europe AND the United States arrayed against Russia?  They should be flattered.  NATO isn't a sign of strength. Not anymore.  NATO is a sign of fear.

(4)

Sanctions are overused.  Do you not think Putin met with the Chinese leader for shits and giggles?  I guarantee they'll get all the chips they want.  I don't know the banking system but I'm betting work arounds have been in place for awhile now because we've used them too damn much.

(5)

Pay attention to the pipeline.  Germany suspended it.  They didn't cancel it.  Sounds great to the masses but at this point its alot of noise and nothing else.

(6)

Watching Blinken talk now.  He is so slimy it makes me want to punch him in the face, not take him seriously.

(7)

We're lining up for another referendum election for president (in the USA).  Between Hillary and Trump we decide to take a chance on the outsider because Hillary was so slimy.  Between Trump and Biden we picked Biden because so many were put off by Trump's behavior (note, not his policies).  The next election (assuming Biden runs) will be another referendum election.  He'll get stomped and hopefully the Republicans will put forward someone halfway decent (doubt it..confidence is not high but I can hope).

But forget what I think.  How much did I get right and wrong?
