I'm rambling but has anyone considered that the Chinese might have moved up their timetable to confront the US?
Could this be part of their calculation?
Think about it. Outside of the UK with a token force of an aircraft carrier and a Destroyer what else could they send? What would the rest of NATO (assuming they would have gone anyway)?
The USMC is changing its entire reason for being to "support the fleet". What if the Chinese ran some wargames and believe that they can win?
Is a fight what they actually want? Sure seems like it. If Nancy doesn't go then they win and they've demoralized the US public. If Nancy goes then they have an excuse for war and can credibly say they warned the US ahead of time so they were provoked!

Its now being claimed that Russian conducted a missile attack on its own facility holding AZOV Regiment prisoners.
Early on July 29, Russian media published a video showing a heavily ruined and burnt prison barrack, supposedly from the prison outside Olenivka, with scores of charred bodies in and around it.
The Olenivska prison, as it is known in eastern Ukraine, is located some three kilometers east of the town Olenivka, in an isolated area. Since the region fell under Russian occupation in 2014, it had also been used as an internment camp.
Since May, some of the nearly 2,000 Ukrainian combatants who surrendered under order at the Azovstal plant following a months-long battle were also held in Olenivka. Many of them belong to the Azov Regiment, which played an important role in the Battle of Mariupol. Russia and Russian-led militants repeatedly vowed to execute the Azov combatants.
After the destruction of the Olenivka prison, the Russian embassy in the U.K. tweeted that Ukrainian prisoners from the Azov Regiment "deserved death," even as Russia was accusing Ukraine of the attack.
The fact that Ukrainian prisoners were held in Olenivka was well-known. In early June, a popular Russian pro-government Telegram channel, trying to discredit the talks about the shipment of long-range artillery to Ukraine, claimed that Ukraine was considering using the Western-provided artillery to shoot at the camp to frame Russia.
"Russian occupants were pursuing criminal ends: to accuse Ukraine of committing war crimes. And also to conceal torture of detainees and executions carried out by authorities under Russian military command," Ukraine's General Staff of the Armed Forces said on July 29.

The only thing I'm sure of is that we're in the land of mirrors. We don't know what the fuck is real and what is fake.
Whenever we start getting a series of reports like this one it does make me wonder if this isn't another try at regaining the attention of civilians in the West.
Oh and don't discount that idea.

Is it calculations with regard to Biden's timidity? I can only wonder if they tried this with someone like Reagan (even given today's environment). He'd be sending a Carrier Battle Group, Amphibious Battle Group, put a couple of Air Wings on alert and do the same with the 2nd ID along with the 25th ID.
The real question though is this.
They've tossed down a gauntlet that means that we can't back down...neither can they.
So what will they do when Pelosi arrives and what will our response be?

Horrifying video has emerged appearing to show a Ukrainian prisoner of war being castrated by his Russian captors.
The footage, which MailOnline is not publishing, shows a group of men wearing Russian camouflage pinning a soldier in Ukrainian fatigues down and using a box-cutting knife to remove his genitals and then hold them up to the camera.
It is unclear exactly when or where the footage was taken, but some of the Russian soldiers who appear in it were filmed on the frontlines in Donbas back in June.
Ukrainian MP Inna Sovsun tweeted the footage, saying: 'Russia has to pay for it.

Debate question...how long are we gonna send weapons to Ukraine without accountability?
The US and NATO have poured tons of money, weapons and munitions into Ukraine without ANY oversight.
Every time you look up you find another group of soldiers begging for weapons, used vehicles etc...
When do we demand accountability?
Ukraine was one of the poorest and MOST corrupt nations in Europe.
Is it beyond the pale to think that some of the rifles, anti-tank missiles...hell even anti-aircraft missiles aren't hitting the black market?
Everyone is cheering the fact that the US State Dept is FINALLY talking to Russia about getting back Brittney Griner (they toss in the Marine as a courtesy to seem like they're being fair) but no one is thinking about working with Russia to get some accountability on these weapons?
If we could at least work with the Russians to determine how many they've captured/destroyed, then conducted a solid audit of what the Ukrainians have expended then we could get a rough number of how many escaped into the wild.
You aren't talking about it now but you will when terrorism inevitably makes a comeback at the middle/end of this decade.

Monkey Pox is big in San Fran. One thing confuses me though. Once again we're faced with a disease that only affects a small part of the population but they're asking the entire society to jump thru hoops to "fight the spread".
I just don't get it.
