Towed MLRS

Not sure how this works but a towed MLRS would seem like practically a throw away asset...sorta like the Dragon Fire Mortar System the Marines trialled long ago.

A different view of the fight for Taiwan (if one comes)

I hadn't considered it because as usual I was looking at the lineup of forces.

The civilian population of Taiwan will be ravaged.

The loss of life would be horrendous.

I've always wondered why the Taiwanese were always so forward leaning with their defense preps.  It has always been biased towards preventing a landing instead of trying to defend in depth (what little they have).

So instead of just waging a major conflict between two super powers with the hope that it doesn't escalate (sinking a super carrier and losing 5,000 Sailors...that alone could flip this into a horror zone), you also have to consider the most massive humanitarian effort in the last 100 years.

Assuming we want the Taiwanese in the West, then you're talking about an evacuation on a scale that would overwhelm the combined capabilities of the Western World and most of Asia too.

That's before we even talk about the economic consequences of the fight.

Do you really think that the US and China crossing swords wouldn't lead to a world wide depression, a total fracturing of the global supply chain and a realignment across the board that would change the world for generations?

This fight might be necessary (I'm not sure) but we better know before we engage.  Considering the talk coming out of the Pentagon I hope they're SERIOUSLY getting ducks in a row...and I mean a REAL "whole of govt" approach.

The war everyone is predicting will be nasty, will change the course of nations and will alter lives across the globe.
Lastly make no mistake. The Chinese will get to shore. Fighting will take place ON LAND. The crazy thing? The USMC will not be constructed to properly conduct an opposed landing against that force to contest the Chinese and will probably have to rely on either Taiwanese forces to hold an airport or the 82nd will have to jump in to seize one! A port you say? When was the last time you saw the Marine Corps conduct a port seizure exercise?

A fight over Taiwan will be a fucking mess.

The T2000 turret in inaccurate?

Hmm. I have to wonder? Is this real or an excuse for the Poles to slap the turret they've been working on for years on the Redback? What has me spinning is that there is no reason to slam Elbit if that's the case. A score of 1-2 hits per 10 fired is PATHETIC though.

Supplying Ukraine has WRECKED our defense stockpile via National Defense Magazine

 via National Defense Mag

The United States has provided a staggering volume of military aid to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion began Feb. 24. The Stingers, Javelins, HIMARS, and 155mm howitzer have upended Russia’s invasion, and Ukraine has successfully regained territory in the east.

Behind this operational success lies an uncomfortable reality: the war in Ukraine has left U.S. defense stockpiles significantly depleted. Current inventories do not undergird a national security strategy that continues to support Ukraine while retaining the ability to assist Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion.

According to the Defense Department, in the six months from March to September, the United States supplied Ukraine with more than 800,000 155mm artillery rounds. From Sept. 28 to Oct. 28, it donated another 100,000 rounds. The September production capacity, meanwhile, was only 14,400 rounds per month. While the exact number of 155mm artillery rounds the United States possesses is unknown, this gap between utilization and production will significantly deplete its reserves over time.

Here

Read and weep.

Oh and remember this.  The Ukraine/Russia conflict might be savage but it will pale in comparison to the US vs China.

We will burn thru what we have probably in the first week or two if commanders are being conservative.

We screwed ourselves for no good reason.

This ain't our fight.

Japanese Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade Amphibious Assault Vehicles launch from the USS New Orleans...

2nd LAAD Activates an Additional Battery

A big change that Berger should institute before he departs?

He should pound on the wing and make LAAD a part of the Ground Combat Element.  Operationally it should maneuver with what remains of the GCE, should prioritize protecting the GCE and with that function in mind it would streamline command and control of the unit.

An anti-air unit does NOT, rather should NOT, belong to the wing.

Blast from the past. Remember when we were told that hospitals were overflowing with covid patients?

Yeah. Overflowing but how many vids did we see with staff dancing in the hallways....hospitals empty because they so cowed the entire Western world. Face folks. We were played. They partied while the country suffered. Is it any wonder we're seeing so many people have mental breakdowns today that expose themselves in weird behavior, violence, etc...?

How many remember this vid from Zelensky that was posted shortly after news of Polish farmers being killed by a missile?

I don't know if its hubris or emotionalism but Zelensky appears to have an agenda that extends past simply removing Russian troops from his soil. This was very unstatesman like behavior and the worst part is that he doubles down instead of walking it back even though his allies are calling bullshit. I'm not sure he's trying to start WW3 but I agree that he's gone from being a comedian to an international threat.

Poland will not invite Ukraine to co-host missile strike investigation

This is telling!  via Defense News.

The Polish authorities will not ask Ukraine to co-host the investigation of the fatal missile strike in Poland’s south-east. Warsaw believes the strike was most likely caused by Ukrainian air defense attempting to intercept a missile fired by Russia, according to a senior Polish official.

“The information we have received from the Ukrainian side is of very significant importance to us. However, it is certain that Ukraine, just like any other country, will not be the co-host of the investigation, because this is our, Polish investigation,” PaweÅ‚ Soloch, an adviser to Polish President Andrzej Duda, told local broadcaster Radio Plus in an interview.

Here

So polite.

So diplomatic.

So telling.

Zelensky keeps overplaying his hand and at least the conservative part of the US political spectrum is beginning to smell bullshit with regard to his actions/views.
