Too complex for its time, but the XC-142 was a great concept, and a workable design by the looks of things.
It's a pity really; after the V-22 I half expected VTOL transports to really 'lift off' as it were, as the tiltrotor can now be considered proven tech.
There were many plans for a larger V-44 variant, but it has been really quiet on that front lately...
