A Stability Police Force for the United States

This study by the Rand Corporation is going gang busters on certain internet websites...to be honest I had never heard of "A Stability Police Force for the US" and thought that someone was playing a bad joke.  You can download and read it for yourself here.

But between the economy going south, our government in disarray, and our citizens being on a hair trigger edge, its obvious that things will probably get worse before they get better.

Back to our regularly scheduled posting.

Stack it deep!

*Sidenote*

Another issue that the Pentagon could easily explain away are the reports of "massive" troop movements around the US.  My first thought was that ok, its just the Army moving gear to NTC or Korea....but that doesn't quite get it.  I believe that the Army changed up its deployment protocols when it comes to NTC and units fall in on equipment left there.  Next if its Korea then it wouldn't be this continuous movement of gear.  A one time thing bringing in the new and removing the old.  Regardless, this stuff is catching more and more eyeballs and it would be nice if a simple statement was given to blow away all the conspiracy stuff.  Here's a sample.

  1. i cant imagine if plans would have been drawn up someone would have leaked them by now. also the RAND report envisions a force of 6500 people, far below what would be necessary to secure a nation of 300 million plus.

  2. 6500 is more than adequate if its mobile and can roll into unstable areas to augment local police.

  3. well the report envisions the force being deployed overseas, "Based on an assessment of past stability operations and an examination of three scenarios (Macedonia, Cuba, and Cote d’Ivoire), we concluded that there are three main sizing options for an SPF that we would consider: 1,000 police; 4,000 police; and 6,000 police." (p. xvi of the summary). i dont see unrest getting to the point of needed to call out military forces, the only time i could see that as necessary is during a Katrina where local and state law enforcement lose major infrastructure and lawlessness ensues. also the political instability is coming from all corners of the political spectrum, not just one.

  4. Is this the national police force that Obama promised us PRIOR to the "manufactured crisis?"

Like I keep saying, half of this country wants the social contract embedded in our Constitution and the other half wants a tyranny of the majority/free-for-all. That isn't going to end well no matter what, particularly when groups of people have been told they have a right to another's man paycheck/property/labor and the denial of such is an injustice.

It would be funny if it weren't playing out right in front of us.

What is particularly disturbing to me is how Liberals don't see how dangerous their ideas have become. They have pushed this country to the brink and now cry foul when we are at the tipping point. This is the natural and known consequences of what they wanted all along.

    Time to eat our peas!

  5. yeah its amazing that they can't see how dangerous this all is...its surprising that they can't see that a large part of the country isn't going to go for this shit. its amazing that they think that this is all right.

if someone isn't even slightly alarmed by all this then there is no use in trying to tell them. all i can do is get my stuff right and watch when it all goes tits up.

  6. 6500 Troops? To clamp down on the US fascist style? The NYPD has over 39,000 officers! My county has over 3,000 officers if you count the City cops, county Sheriffs and town cops (not counting the NYS Troopers). BTW our crime rate sucks, we are called the murder capital of NYS.

They might be able to lock down a average city but there is just so much open territory in this country that 10s of thousands maybe millions to fully secure it. Just look at our highway and rail network, to get from the east to west coast you need to travel across the Midwest and Rockies which in some areas has only one or two crossings or goes though prairie for a thousand miles. Imagine how many may just go Red Dawn on their asses up in the Appalachian mountains.

The Soviet KGB Border Guards had a force of a quarter of a million with its own coast guard and air force! ... and they had to control a population without GUNS and a population told from birth to do as they are told! That is the size of a force we are talking about here, NOT 6,500 troops.

  7. geez. are you just gonnna come over here and disagree with everything i say without actually thinking about it Thomas?

i said that they would be used to augment local police departments!

don't be a dumbass. in a Katrina type event guess what? it was more than effective. this is an organized Federal response which would be more robust than anything a state or local government could put together.

    damn you're a dumbass tonight.

  8. I suppose this is a cultural thing again. Over here in Germany we have a federal police force, former border guard, and their rapid reaction units are often used in support of state police forces. I'd rather see properly trained and equipped law enforcement professionals handling security operations after a natural disaster or wide spread public unrest than active duty soldiers or reservists.
