15th MEU Helo Company Light Strike Vehicle Training.

Marines with Weapons Platoon, Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team 3/5, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepare for convoy operations with the company’s light strike vehicles, Feb. 11. The platoon practiced working with the unit’s light strike vehicles, or LSVs, during the unit’s sustainment training in Djibouti, designed to increase unit cohesion, practice the fundamentals of their trades and take advantage of a unique opportunity to train in a foreign country. The 15th MEU is deployed as part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group as a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force, providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. 1. I usually defer to SOL about vehicles, BUT have been watching this particular fiasco for a long time.
Is that a TOY Jeep? How did it get the contract to fit inside an Osprey and tow a mortar?
There are now about a half dozen competing designs which are apparently more capable?
SOCOM has an RFP out to buy an V-22 capable attack vehicle for NSW. I cannot wait to see what those bidders' vehicles look like to laugh at the USMC toy~

  2. if i answered honestly i'd say corruption and cronyism. the guy that developed the vehicle is a retired Marine Corps Colonel and the competitor had what is in my opinion a much better vehicle. you're right when you say that others will laugh when they compare what NSW is gonna get to the USMC's toy but its what we have and the contract is complete.

what kills me is that they built a vehicle designed to fit inside an aircraft instead a vehicle designed to do the job first. in real combat this vehicle will never be used as intended...i expect it to last maybe 5 years before they start stuffing these mortars in the back of surplus AAVs

  3. I was told a long time ago by a senior naval official that they made the Ospreys too small inside. I guess this proves that observation?

  4. Driving schools teach the basics of proper driving. They also provide the technical things that new drivers have to learn for them to be effective and safe drivers.
