Rafale vs. Typhoon in Exercise Joint Warrior...

This should be good.  We often hear about Typhoons or Rafales supposedly getting kill shots on F-22s, so it'll be good to see which is better when they go against each other.

I'm predicting a split decision.  The Typhoon will be superior in air superiority missions and the Rafale will win the swing role.

Its really academic.  The F-22 would blow both of them out of the air before they got to the WVR fight...(that statement should stir the pot...)

  1. Its not academic...jamming,missfires,their agility... expect at least that 3 out of 4 4th gen fighters will make it to the merge.
The F-22 could have been the best fighter in the world,if the USAF had funded the side looking AESA,the IRST and the HMD.Its performance would allow it to engage at will an run away when needed. As it stands its an incomplete fighter...and the eurocanards have more sensors and use similar weapons.

  2. F22 is probably the best fighter out there but incomplete in many aspects and funding for upgrades will likely be slashed just to fund to big to fail F35 ,i wouldn't be suprised if part of the fleet is retired prematurely just keep the rest flying.
Eurocanards are sort of like F35 a to big to fail project in Europe and will continue to see upgrades for both domestic and export market + unlike a 190+ F22 fleet these planes will form the backbone of European airforces. Stealth advantage will continue to diminish in the future both due to tactics and technology .

  3. F22, is better, but has severe, limitations, in a dog fight, the f22, would be dead when pitched against the euro-fighter, or Rafael to a lesser extent.

in BVR, the f-22 has a great superiority, that will be lessened, with the introduction of THE meteor BVR missile. also, how effective in real world will the euro-fighters, irst, be at, finding the f-22. i think fairly, good.

    1. The only limitation of the Raptor in a dogfight is the lack of HMD.In terms of performance it is similar at low altitude and superior at high altitude.High speed performance is also superior for the Raptor. The Eurocanards might have some advantage at low altitude low speed, but then again a Super Hornet is also a dreeded oponent in that scenario...
