The Terrorist was unarmed while hiding in the boat...

The longer this lingers....the more the public learns about this incident...the worse its going to look for the government officials.

via The Truth About Guns Blog...
“Even though the Tsarnaev brothers made a violent dash from police, allegedly tossing homemade bombs as they fled, police told ABC News they so far have recovered only a single, semi-automatic handgun from the two men now accused of carrying off the Boston Marathon bombing . . . Law enforcement sources toldABC News the gun recovered from the scene of the Tsarnaev brothers’ shoot out with police was a Ruger 9 mm semi-automatic handgun. Sources said the gun is in the custody of the Massachusetts State Police lab and that the serial number on the firearm was obliterated.”
Wait what????

They only had one gun????

The news media talked about all the assault rifles these guys had...

They talked about how the public should be afraid of these thugs....

But wait there is much more.
Oh and it’s now been revealed that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was unarmed when he was captured.
Quite honestly, if this is true, then either we as a society condone the shooting of American citizens by law enforcement or we charge some of these officers with aggravated assault.

Its a fickle road that we're traveling since this guy isn't a unlawful combatant.

This is going to be interesting.

Think about it.

POLICE SHOT AN UNARMED AND BLEEDYing SUSPECT.  Even on the battlefield that's not allowed and Marines have been court martialed for less.

  1. The police put about 50+ rounds into the side of that boat if the white marks visible in the press photos are anything to go by!

Not particularly well directed fire. Suspect can't be seen (or what he is doing), so in a law enforcement sense this is just poor shooting discipline.

    1. its far more than that. this is the second time that police have in essence killed a suspect that was unable to resist. the mess in California is going without investigation but the police were scared shitless. they moved the media back and then used white phosophorous to burn the cabin down. that's murder if he could no longer shoot back and wasn't given the opportunity to surrender and the same thing applies here.

quite honestly its coming down to where you have to seriously consider whether the "old" rules apply when it comes to encounters with police.

    2. It also might serve as a warning to the 4th Amendment fanatics who think (in light of Boston lock-down and searches) that they can refuse entry to the police when they come a-knocking with guns drawn and no warrant.

I say don't stop THE MAN coming in, but let the Judge deal with it and throw the evidence out later. Much safer to do that.

    3. oh i say buy a burn safe, build hidden compartments and learn to hide your unmentionables. if you die your kin might not find it but at least when they do unwarranted searches you'll be safe.

  2. How do you establish, without any doubt that a suspect is not armed and that therefore it can be apprehended without any risks? That guy could have had an explosive device on him for all they knew.
The situation is kinda in a grey area especially because of the media frenzy on the subject.

    1. i can tell you without a doubt that if the FBI was anywhere in the area then they knew that the guy was unarmed and didn't have an IED.

how do i know? because i've worked with the guys been through courses with them and know their tech. its scary cool and its been a few years.

when i trained with them they had imagining devices that could look through walls, had handheld flir, and had observation scopes that could tell if you shaved or not from half a mile away.

Boston PD might have been dazed and confused, but the fbi provided the robot so they were in the loop and they would be able to sort out any confusion.

i won't blame malice for over aggressiveness and that's what i really think happened. when you have a dog on a leash and you finally let him off he's gonna bite. if one of his stable mates has been mauled (meaning a cop killed) then you can bet that dog is gonna get his pound of flesh no matter what the masters want.

these guys got intel that they were up against hardcore terrorist and they were geared for war against people that wouldn't quit. instead they went up against a bully big brother and a punk little brother.

hardcore street cops could have taken them out.

    2. Alex: The situation is kinda in a grey area especially because of the media frenzy on the subject.

I think you're on to something. The media feeds the frenzy because it helps their ratings. They're fear mongering assholes who actually make things worse with their tabloid tactics. But they will NEVER be held accountable. I'm not sure such a thing is possible. The only way we can negatively affect them is to stop watching and hurt their ratings.

  3. Nothing gray about it guy is a suspect till proven guilty ,so shooting for an hour at an individual (armed or not) is pure disregard for human life imagine it wasn't the right guy but a bum sleeping in a boat instead. As for a militarised police state ,nothing but waste of money guy was already outside search grid , so boat owner calling 911 is what brought manhunt to an end ,and it would all the same without all the hysteria and martial law.

People have to realize that PD SWAT is no special force its standards and training are about the same as for PD bowling team ,so they should stop acting as if they are some spec ops and need all the same gear as the guys operating in a warzone.

  4. The fact that the home and boat owner had walked up to the Terrorist hiding place and did not get shot or blown up should have alerted police to the fact the terrorist was combat ineffective and could have been scooped up by the paramedics who were totally un armed.
In the county above ours a man was in a domestic situation and threatened to shoot himself with a handgun, Police and Sheriff responded and had the fellow alone in his car and surrounded.
A few hours later a single gunshot was heard.....the LEO emptied their pistols into the car shooting it over 20 times, emptied their magazines in some cases.
Then a Tactical group sneaked up on the car and found the suspect had shot himself and no police fired rounds hit him.
The guy was dead before the cops shot the car and it's surroundings to doll rags.
One shot and the LEO went all mad minute on the car for no results at all.

  5. Has anyone seen the video of the unarmed guy sitting in a doorjamb and when the police dog ran up to him the police shot 50 rounds or more into the guy, the police dog, the door and the building?
They killed the guy and the Police dog!

  6. Damn, all that shooting for a pistol? Damn.

Another concern is a stray gun fire. Just do a search for "boston shootout bullet holes" and look at the results. That's a lot of gunfire, in the dark, at one guy with a pistol.

what happened to "if you can't see your target, don't shoot"
