Near miss! via Forças Terrestres Blog.

Yeah!  That's an anti-tank missile barely missing the open hatch of that T-55 tank that decides to take up a firing position on top of a hill!  God must love idiots because this crew lived to fight another day.  Who teaches armor tactics in the rebel camp?  Whoever it is they need to be fired.  Watch the vid below to see the whole thing, but pay special attention at the 1:13 mark.  That's when you can actually see the action.  You'll also see these bastards back up ricky tick quick!

  1. Tactics? Nobody teaches armor tactics among the rebels. They think a tank is nothing more than a self-propelled gun.

  2. What an idiot Sagger operator, he missed!

By the way tank had taken good position -- hill top protects him, only turret was visible to the enemy, it was hard for manually controlled anti-tank missile operator to hit such small target, but good shot anyway he almost hit it.

    1. you believe that silhouetting yourself against the sky by taking up a position on a hilltop is good armored tactics?

    2. From the camera position, we can see whole tank silhouette on the sky, but the missile came from the left, and to the left there is some terrain obstacle, which cover most of the tank from the left, so only tank turret is visible above the obstacle. Its not ideal position, but tank showing only most protected part, turret front, to the enemy. Risky position, but since guided missile misses tank, it seems its worked.

Of course its dependent on how well operator hold camera, at the beginning of the video it looks like tank completely open from the left, but to the end operator slightly tilt camera and it looks like tank actually had some protection from left provided by terrain obstacle, IMHO.

    3. quite honestly i know everything i need to know because of the near miss and whether or not he was silhouetted. i have no doubt that he was. you don't toss a anti-tank missile at a target willy nilly. if it was a javelin that would have been a kill...they lucked up.

    4. I must agree javelin would have finished them.

  3. After the missile breezes on by, do you think they even knew what they were shooting back at, or was that a "just shoot anywhere while I get us the hell out of here" shot?

    1. When I was a young infantry soldier (in the IDF), that tactic was precisely what scared me most. Essentially, a tank crew in sudden contact with foot soldiers would simply quickly turn every gun (including the big main gun) and fire some quick rounds in the direction the offensive fire came from. You did NOT want to be anywhere in the line of an angry MBT crew firing main guns, multiple machine guns, and who knows what else in your general direction. It only takes a few moments, but it can really ruin your day and your underwear.
