World of Tanks Update 1.

Hey all.

This serves as an update to my jump into World of Tanks  First.  I killed a night playing the damn thing.  Its addictive.  Second.  Thanks to all for the advice.  Gunthy!  I watched the vid you suggested and the guy is a pro.  I had seen his stuff before but earlier it didn't interest me because I wasn't playing.  Now?  Words to live by in the game!

Andrew!  Spot on.  No money will be spent on the Lowe Heavy.  Its a dog of a vehicle.  But I might have to break the no spending pledge for the higher tiers.  I don't see how you can survive in a stock tank.

Speaking of game play.  Why does my moderately upgraded M5 Stuart...a tier 4 tank...land me in the battlefield littered with Tier IX, VIII, VII and VI ????  I was blasting away and I imagine some British 14 year old was talking shit saying stuff like...don't you understand I'm a rock son? when my  rounds would bounce off him.  Several times I turned into a running joke.  They would kill everyone else and save me for last.  Surrounded by Panthers, E-100s and American T26s.

It sucked.

It was fun.

I'll be doing it again tonight.

  1. The normal spread in a match is three tiers. You can be a T5 in a T7 match but in this game the T5 is the lowest tier.

For light tanks it is a 5 tier spread so your T4 light can see a T8 tank.

  2. Glad you found it useful, Quickbaby is another worth checking out. He doesn't have the humour that jingles has in his vids but he is a damned good player. with over 60% winrate and efficiency if you into that kinda thing.

Wot itself has really struck up my interest in tanks and ww2 again I've spent a small fortune on books thanks to that game lol. It is worth noting that many of the tanks game characteristics are quite different from the real deal to help balance the game so take everything you learn from the game with a huge pinch of salt.

Connected with Wot you also have Wargamings tank guy in the US "The Chieftain" his channel is definitely worth a watch especially the operation think tank videos. expert info overload!

    1. same here. quite honestly outside of the big names in WW2 tanks they just didn't catch my fancy. until now. i'm finding a new interest in historic armor that i never knew i had. good stuff. i don't mind the tanks being up to speck. hell that means that Tigers Tanks would never make it to combat if we used real stats.

good stuff all around though and i'll check out Chieftains vids once i make it through all of Jiggles...the guy is a trip!

    2. Chieftain has had some great articles regarding past tanks. He likes to get into the real deal, and has posted some great photo's of tank museums from around the world.

  3. Light tanks are intentionally put into upper tier games to act as scouts. If you're a light tank and you're in with a bunch of higher tier tanks that means match maker wants your sole purpose in the game to be charging into dangerous unknown places (namely tank formations) and spotting enemies so your teammates can open fire on them. It's a thankless job, but you can get a significant amount of XP if you spot a lot of tanks. I personally hate being in any light tank above Tier III, but can't stand going so slow in the heavies so I've stuck to medium tanks.

By the way, I am convinced that the German E-100 is the most unfair tank in the game. I have hit that tank in the rear turret with my Tier VIII T-44 several times using different rounds and done no damage. I got my Tier IX T-54 and still did no damage. I actually hurt it with my Tier X T-62A several times before the guy driving it fired at me and took out nearly half my health in one shot. I fucking hate that thing.

    2. When the Type 59 was introduced it was a lot like that, it was stupid fast, had a great rate of fire and could take a round like no other. I believe they've nerfed the hell out of it, but for the longest time is was not fun playing against it. One of my biggest foe's I've found in the game is the Jadgtiger's, they are a great TD and I've hated them. I have unlocked the E-50 as well as the Patton, but I've not put any money into the game in quite sometime to buy the credits, maybe I'll put out this weekend. I have a bigger project going, I'm redoing the piping in my house, old galvanized out, PEX in.

    3. dude! take care of the house project first. this just some bullshit fun and games...winter will get here soon enough and that ain't the time to be doing work on the crib! (like how i got all 'cool" and stuff with that comment. its the game!)

    4. I'm taking care of the house work, lucky for me, I live in the Pac, NW where we don't usually have a hard freeze. I've got most of the parts, just need the water heater, that's the big one, and I've got to get it before the old one bursts... Now thats not fun. (Yeah I like how you got all cool with the crib).

  4. To kill a E-100, aim for the lower glacier plate between the front tracks. It is paper thin and a decent calibered gun will wreck its health. Loved my m46, but my m48 is a bullet magnet, with no ability to deflect rounds. The easy 8 is my favorite American medium and money maker. Have fun blowing shit! Say hey if you see me, CplWil75.

    1. will do but it'll be a loooong time till i can make it up to the big leagues. playing in the minors is a experience. no overwatch. charging head long into gunfire. no one recons by fires...instead they poke their head where a bullet should go...NO TEAM WORK! its amazing anyone survives these fights but i'm getting the hang of it. working on vehicle handling right now. i think i'm gonna get one of those fancy joysticks to better control my vehicle. i think thats a major key to the game.

  5. I agree with the no team work aspect of the game now, when I first started playing, teamwork seemed to be the first thing anyone talked about when starting the game. Now, more than ever playing with a platoon is what it takes to win the game. I still like playing my T-20, I don't make money with it, but it's fast, and has decent firepower, I believe it's 75mm is equal to the easy 8.
I've not tried playing with a joystick, I've still got the old logitech stick I got from my sister for Christmas some 15 years ago.
If you play platoon, one thing I've done is to fire up Steam and use the chat feature from them versus Tanks. At one time it was a better method for communicating with your team.
Hey Sol, have you seen the the shit that has happened in the past week, first the Vice Admiral fired for using counterfeit chips than Air Force fires a Maj. General for some violation not disclosed. Man what can we expect from our regular troops when leadership is so Fucked Up?
