I'm not sure of the background of this video but I believe the guy being dangled on the winch cable end is the Pilot. Most canopies have a release that just pops the hood up the pilot escapes by simply crawling out, perhaps it's just Wishful thinking. The most dangerous four acres on the face of the earth is the flight deck of an Aircraft carrier.
