AAV Upgrade Path.

Thanks to Jonathan for finding this!  Good stuff.

This is the latest on the AAV Upgrade Path.

To call this insufficient would be an understatement.  Oh and another reminder of what our Marines are dealing with.  Below you see another pic of the AAV's interior.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to crunch numbers to let even the dumbest politician realize that the smallest IED encountered in Afghanistan would cause serious casualties if an AAV hit it during a training or partnership exercise in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, etc....

We need to do better.

  1. AAV or upgrades are not needed. No one will set out to establish a defended beachhead because U.S. aircraft from the Air Force and the Navy will easily target and destroy the defenses. They’ll employ their ground forces, particularly mobile armored forces, inland, away from the coast. These mobile reserves will attack within the range of the defending forces’ own artillery and airpower to destroy elements that attempt to come ashore whether over the beach or through ports.

    1. Yes because air will destroy all the targets. Just like push button warfare will be the way of the future. Inchon is a huge point here, also you seem to think that the corps will always get the chance to "prep" the battlefield and never have to push into a contested area.

Also you forget that the aav isnt just a vehicle to assault beaches your wrong, its a armored personal vehicle that will hopefully become more. The corps needs its abilitys, more than it needs the F35
