70th Anniversary for the Battle of Iwo Jima...

Surviving Veterans of the Battle of Iwo Jima gathered this past weekend to remember the sacrifice that so many made to win that piece of real estate in the Pacific.

The Japanese put on a fabulous showing for the event and from what I've seen in news coverage of the Veteran's reactions it was appreciated by all.

Fast forward to today's Marine Corps.  This is a touchstone battle that best exemplifies all that the Marine Corps stands for, what we expect of Marines in battle and is part of the foundation that has guaranteed the Corps' survival.

The Marine Corps will never forget the Battle of Iwo Jima.  Let's hope the nation doesn't either.

  2. from F-16.net:
"What you have here are a bunch of knowledgeable people in various
specialties converging on one message board to share thoughts,
knowledge, ideas, etc on the F-16/F-35/Military Aerospace
Most of us are here to learn, to share, to inform, to joke around.
And then there are the few "F-35 haters" that stick around to rag on it like Maus92, Geogen, Vilters"

We're waiting for the "knowledgeable people in various
    specialties to share thoughts,
    knowledge, ideas."
    .....tick, tock, tick, tock.....

  3. You are only considered knowledgable if you are a fanboy, a shill for LM / subcontractors, or a retired aerospace engineer who disparages any report that dares to actually audit the program. Apparantly, these experts know much more about the program than DOT&Es staff of engineers and SMEs.

  4. It's not daylight in Australia yet, gotta wait for SpazSinbad. I think he may have some juice to join in, unlike other LM cheerleaders described by CharleyA.

  5. Come over to F-16.net and talk with us there. I'm not going to waste my time on a message board that you control. Plenty of people have tried to discuss things with you, and if you don't like them, you censor them. If you want to discuss / argue with us, come over to F-16.net.

  6. Nothing substantial yet, including the desperate sgt mac threatening to make some s**t up on the pogo piece when he gets around to it. Same old, same old, the fan-boys never get serious.

  7. Hearing no nays, the ayes have it -- the F-35B is not ready for prime time. The phony F-35B IOC of a half-developed system with many faults is dead. RIP STOVL "combat capability" which didn't exist anyhow, and may never exist.

To add insult to injury, it has just been reported that the Brits are paying $266 million each for these worthless flying sausages. --from The Guardian:
Britain’s order of 14 planes is expected to cost £2.5bn if running costs are included. The original plan was to buy 138 F-35s.

  8. 'Prince of Wales' both useless to the British economy and defense... :)

I wonder if the navy is saying of the QT
    - should have made them flat
    - should have had a sling shot and catch wires..

talk about railroading yourself into a single aircraft design platform.

From memory there was a call to re design this tub into CATOBAR configuration? To late I guess.

  9. Gee whiz Sol, you mean its still not canceled like you predicted years ago?

Quick question Is General Dunford "F-16.net people" now?

  11. I'm sure its as correct as any other POGO report. No more, no less. just like their Reports on the F-15, Abrams tank, M-2 Bradley, Super Hornet, blah blah. All of which will surely never work and should be canceled in favor of the status quo
