ITX 5-17 Innovation UTV, AAV Loading....pics by Staff Sgt. David Proffitt

U.S. Marines with Marine Air Ground Task Force-8 (MAGTF-8) load a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) into an Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) during Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 5-17 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., Aug. 2, 2017. The purpose of ITX is to create a challenging, realistic training environment that produces combat-ready forces capable of operating as an integrated MAGTF.

I wonder why they keep doing this type thing when in the not too distant future the capability will be going away. With the blast seats on the AAV-SU (assuming SAIC can deliver) and ACV (which I believe BAE/Iveco will win easily) we're gonna lose the "logistics" capability that we have with our troop transports.

It's good to see this being done in the field but its more of a nod to the past than an indication of what we'll be able to do in the future.
