Maj. Gen. Chris Donahue, commanding general of the 82nd Airborne boards a C-17....the last American soldier in Afghanistan (officially)

Well played 18th Airborne Corps.  But make no mistake about it.  SOCOM is still running missions in Afghanistan.

Question. Does SOCOM need a dedicated Special Ops Sub? Does the Saab A26 fit the bill?

I'm just spitballing here.

SOCOM has dedicated aviation forces.  It has dedicated naval personnel to get them ashore via surface means.

Does it need a dedicated submarine...especially in light of the ramp up in the Pacific?

I'm just saying!  How many more missions can you stack on our nuke boats?  Ship killing, launching cruise missiles against land targets, intel gathering, scouting for the fleet...AND delivery of SOCOM personnel on highly classified missions?

We're running them hard.  Probably the crews too.

If we're talking about a littoral fight then doesn't it make sense to have a sub that is built to fight in the littoral environment?

Doesn't it make sense to have one of the quietest subs on the planet in our fleet?

Who would use it?  The question is better said as "who wouldn't!"

I can SEALs/MARSOC/Special Forces/Para-Rescue/Rangers/Force Recon-Recon and probably even a few conventional forces with the trained personnel.

2 per coast is my initial thinking.  Probably re-assess once we get a better idea of actual need (and no...not that combatant commander bullshit...they've been proven to draw forces just to draw forces...the kingdoms must be maintained)

What say you?

"Grand Order of Muskies"

Never heard of it.

Pretty cool though.

I think we better leave this one to the submarine force. Don't think Naval Aviation, the surface fleet or Marines taking shots with anti-ship missiles will bring this one down. Yeah, let's hope the sub boys are up to the task.

Pray for my boys down South...in N. Louisiana this storm has been nothing...

 It's crazy.

Got all spun up for a terrible storm but thankfully for us (practically anyone above I-10), its been a non-event (at least here in N. Louisiana, the storm did a jiggle and headed off towards MS.  They're getting hammered hard.

Long story short?

So far I've seen worse thunderstorms.  I'm good so thanks for the well wishes.

Pray for my boys down South though.  From what I've been monitoring its been bad.  Real bad.  Once again its the flooding (with some serious wind damage) that is gonna wreck people.

Some say Louisiana don't start till you get past Baton Rouge/Lafayette.  Of course I don't agree.  But one thing is certain.

They're paying a heavy price for living on the coast right now.  Industry is too (that's common though...when a hurricane hits Houston they're facing the same issue with just a much bigger population).

To be expected.  Year round outdoor activities from hunting/fishing, boating, riding your ATV, camping and just all the other things you do in the "sportsmen's paradise" come with the built in price of hurricanes.

Gonna take a short beat and post pics of my work bag, INCH bag, ITEOTWAWKI bag and some other shit I'm doing.
