XQ-58A Valkyrie

An XQ-58A Valkyrie low-cost unmanned aerial vehicle launches at the U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz., Dec. 9, 2020. The flight successfully demonstrated the ability of new communications data to exchange information with an F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II and the transformative warfighting impact of the open architecture underpinning the Advanced Battle Management System. Late Open Comment Post. 31 Dec 2020 (End of the year discussion)...

Hey all.  Hope you're well.  Can we make this Open Comment Post a discussion about the past year.  Good, Bad, Middle and Terrible?

I'm curious about everyone's impression of how things went from a PERSONAL perspective.

At least 28 killed after ISIS destroyed a convoy of buses carrying SAA soldiers heading towards Homs

Wow.

How long has it been since I posted on Syria?  What's happened in the meantime?  I saw news that the Israelis conducted a couple of strikes and killed a few troops around Damascus.  The Russians had their troops attacked by Turkish backed gangs.  And now this.

The conflict that nobody wants to win just keeps on going...

2020 is bad. 536 AD was worse...

That's what I don't get about climatologist.  Global Warming (if true...still have doubts) might be bad but global cooling will have the potential to eradicate human life on this planet.

Even worse?

Just as I suspect global warming is outside of our control it is without a doubt that global cooling is.  One or two huge volcanoes go off and its putting the planet in a hurt locker.

Failing crops in poor regions will kill millions if not billions.  We'll have to scramble to develop the infrastructure to grow food with greatly reduced sunlight.

If you think about it, our existence on this planet is hanging by a thread on a daily basis.

All Domain Reconnaissance Detachment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU)

Note.  Ordinarily I'd rail against the constant rebranding of shit in the Marine Corps.  Not now.  I'm all in favor of the break with the past  Let this new Marine Corps chart its own course and make its own history.  There is a difference between old and new. Make the line between the two stark and bold!

Let's be honest for a second.

If the Commandant is serious about his transformation then what he's looking to develop is a missile slinging, air optimized, naval infantry.

These boats fit that vision alot better than the ACV, JLTV or any other vehicle the Marine Corps currently employs.

Air transported anti-ship missiles (robotic) along with naval infantry to guard refueling points (EABOs) with a few F-35s doing work with the Navy and he can call it a day.

It's simple but we're not there.  I wonder why.  This little diddy makes alot more sense than the talk of the USMC hunting subs.
