The summer fight season is coming sooner than expected this year...

Gonna be a long hot summer in the US this year. Like visiting big cities? Ok. Get your affairs in order first. You like crowds? Ok. Ditto my first.

Large-Scale, Long-Range Air Assault (L2A2) allows the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) to rapidly concentrate highly lethal, low-signature, and cohesive combat forces from dispersed locations to overwhelm adversaries at a place and time of our choosing.

Sounds like Force Design 2030 but without the concentration on one foe, one region...with the added benefit of not focusing on the capabilities found in other services. A highly lethal, low signature operating from dispersed locations? Organic tactical mobility by aircraft and tactical vehicles (note that the Infantry Squad Vehicle is already in service) along with insertion into an area of their choosing WITH the capability to carry on the attack at a time of their choosing (presumably able to defend as well)? The US Army is drinking the Marine Corps milkshake and laughing in our faces. From the 82nd to the 101st on over to the 11th Airborne we're seeing a real deal competition for what was once our mission set. If they have any officers still in the ranks that attended our staff colleges then they have the building blocks of rolling into amphibious assault business. I left out the 25th ID but if you start seeing them moving troops and vehicles from island to island on ARMY WATERCRAFT then the square is circled. The Marine Corps has about 4 years max to get its head out of its ass and reclaim the amphibious assault mission (not fucking amphibious raids...SOCOM is blocking that route) or the Army will take it.

Sometimes the economy fucks over you. Sometimes you're just a fucking fool for buying that shit!

Talk about a bad decision!

Can't lie.  Those big SUV's Chevy is putting out are downright awesome.

100K awesome?  FUCK NO!

Can't blame this on anything but a bad decision.  I now see that things are definitely lined up against the next gen, but to do this kinda shit?

Walking into a financial suicide booth would make more sense but then again that's exactly what this chic did.

Some interesting news on the Biden admin's effort to win re-election

First up is the shock poll that CNN ran. Biden has work to do. I've suspected that his wife and close advisors are running the nation. I also believe that they're so removed from the REAL people of this country that they have no idea how to correct course. Next up is the Press Sec. She's been a lightning rod since the beginning and it appears that she is no longer useful. I actually believe this report and think that they'll use her for outreach to gay black lesbians in particular and the minority community in general. It won't work. This chic is not loved. I leave it with this. This guy has been treated badly just because he asked some tough questions and didn't toe the line. While you might think that this is just an individual issue between the White House and a journalist I tell you its not. The US is losing Africa not because of our economic interests but because of our "social policy". Africa is more conservative than the US and pushing social agendas there has put us on our backfoot and made things easier for Russia and China to make ground and overtake us.

So weird to see police retreating in front of protesters...something is off with this whole drama

I don't know what I'm seeing with these protests. Something is off.

The only people that seem to be doing it right is Florida.  You decide you want to buck and push a LEO and you're getting served up on a dinner plate.  Your camp?  Destroyed.  You throw a bottle? Properly applied face plant into the ground and a quick cuff.

But this?

Retreating?

I just don't get it.

Where are the intel dudes to identify the leaders and the plain clothes bubbas to snatch them up?

Where are the folks behind the line to snatch up people when they get close to thin the herd?

This is wild.

More on those Ukrainian drone operators that got overrun...

Remember the post from yesterday about the Ukrainian drone operators that got overrun?

It got me thinking.

Everyone (myself included) thought that being a drone operator was a geek job.  They don't do the work that the gun bunnies do to get shells loaded and get rounds on target that they do.

Naw.  You don't see those guys sweating in the burning sun, living in mud or enduring so much rain you can barely see in front of you.

Drone operators were seen as living in luxury, working in climate controlled portable offices looking thru screens thousands of miles away.

Now?

Now that shit has gone tactical.  Now they do live in the bad stuff.  Now they do have to endure like everyone else.

But the Ukrainian dudes did something to add fuel to an already burning fire.  Think about it.  You can't reach out and touch them. They kill with impunity and the best you can do is hopefully knock down the drone before it could kill you.

They started posting those battlefield snuff videos.  Soldiers waving goodbye or begging for mercy or committing suicide to stop the pain (there is a vid up of a soldier waving goodbye to his mother before sticking a hand grenade inside his body armor and killing himself...don't know the details but that was the caption...I'll try and find it).

This war has made drone operators the most hated.

They better send those bubbas to the best SERE schools possible and they better make the current ones MUCH better.

That MOS just got off the ground and they're at the top of the food chain for getting kills on.

Drone operators started off as the geek squad.  They better morph into Rambo real quick or they're gonna get got.

When drone operators become the hunted. It ain't no fun when the rabbit got the gun....

Remember all those drone camera footage of them chasing soldiers and then bombing them? Remember how in the comments there was nothing but cheering? Remember reading all the captions where the drone operators were salivating at the thought?

The tables got turned in a big way in this vid.

It ain't no fun when the rabbit got the gun.

Drone operators are the new snipers on the modern battlefield.  The enemy will expend an entire day's worth of munitions to erase them off the face of the earth.  Whole grid squares will be obliterated to get one drone operator.

The Russia/Ukraine war made them famous.  With fame comes consequences.

The consequences of how Ukraine has handled this drone war is that there will be absolutely NO mercy for those folks captured on the battlefield.

No wonder the next gen is pissed and depressed...we developed a system that is crushing them from the start with no chance of recovery

The Modern Commandos (Royal Marines)

We failed. They're inside the wire & it seems like that was the plan all along...

I wonder how the Biden re-election campaign is processing man on the street interviews like this?

No further explanation is needed with this type of comment.

Ukraine just don't get it and their handlers have lost the audience. Less kill vids showing drones killing soldiers and more of this and they'd get more sympathy...

Kharkiv, Ukraine. Kid in a bulletproof vest is waiting for KFC order
byu/tohich-tohich inukraine
One thing irks me. All these groups fighting worldwide (except the Israelis) tend to focus on their battlefield kills. Hamas in the fight of their lives (finally) don't show the suffering that normal people are going thru (but are they all normal people when they're all Hamas?) but they make music videos of ambushing IDF troops. Ukraine in the fight of their lives shows everything but the thing that would cause people like me to at least pause in their hatred of wasting more money in that country.

The above pic pulls heartstrings (only a little though...I could show many American children that should be dressed the same way as they dodge criminals and drug heads on the way to school).

Zelensky is caught up in his role as "wartime" leader.  Any hints of democracy surrounding his regime are over.

The only thing he SHOULD do is to push images like this.  His constant whining and begging for weapon systems to meet the latest challenge that the Russians are putting forward is pathetic.

He lost the offensive (poorly timed) and he's lost the battlefield initiative.

He's put his country in the position of responding to the Russians, not dictating.  His strategy of carrying out deeper and deeper strikes into Russia is obvious.  Its to illicit a response by Russia that pushes European countries to engage (the US administration wouldn't dare...they have an election to lose and Biden is mentally handicapped due to disease).

In short the Ukrainians have mismanaged the war AND THE propaganda campaign.

They're just awful at this stuff.

China uses biometrics for payment....revolutionary or the mark?

This one has me twisted. Biometrics to pay for goods might seem revolutionary on the surface but it shows (at least to me) total control of a population. This means that anytime you buy a soda, the govt has information on your location. It extends if (and I don't know if they do this or not), you use biometrics to unlock your doors at home or enter buildings. On the spirtual side of things this has the feel of the mark of the beast. Modern tech is an amazing thing but even at its best it can used for evil. For every "convience" you pay a price. Nothing is free.

The US Army is restructing its Aviation Brigades. When the V-280 hits they will take over amphibious assault ships that the Marine Corps has abandoned, forcible entry will reside only in the Army

When your rival is making mistakes you get out the way and let them. The US Army has/is watching the idiocy of Force Design 2030 and its one region/one foe strategy and they're setting themselves up to fill the numerous voids this fucked concept has created.

via Defense News.
The Army is returning to what it did prior to years of operations in the Middle East and will design division-based formations that do not look the same.

For example, McCurry said, “a light infantry division is more reliant on mobility than a heavy division is from the air, those soldiers have to move, rapidly reposition. We’re putting more [UH-60] Black Hawk [utility helicopters] into the light divisions and taking some of those Black Hawks out of the heavy divisions and heavy divisions remain focused on lethality.”

For the 101st Airborne Division, the Army is building an extra battalion of 32 CH-47F Chinook cargo helicopters to enable air assault. “That helps with the mobility and the ability to do air assault in that division,” he said.

Here

This restructuring isn't simply about making their light infantry more mobile.  Its about flexing into new roles.

Once the V-280 hits its gonna be hell on wheels.

The V-280 will enable a unit like the 101st (that already does the ship thing on the regular) to conduct long range assault from the sea onto targets on land.  The Black Hawk will be a nice interim step but full realization will come with the V-280.

Too many Force Design advocates remain in the upper echelon of the Marine Corps.  They've buried their fangs into the floor boards and will not look at the world and realize that their concept is fucked beyond recognition.

They will continue to push the concept behind closed doors while the Commandant does a little window dressing to keep critics at bay.

Decisions have consequences.

Force Design 2030 has succeeded in doing only one thing.

Force Design 2030 is on track to make the Marine Corps a service that only provides ship board security, participates in small inconsequential raids and provides the Congress/President awesome parades in DC.

I give it 20 years and the Marine Corps could/should lose its separate service status.

Heavy Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles.

Perspective is everything. Impressions can be misleading. I think 6x6 and I think a smaller vehicle than an 8x8. In this age that's totally wrong. Perspective is everything but looking at this beast its not as small as I imagined. Its big. This thing makes an LAV-25 look like a jeep.
