Australian Special Operations Task Group in Afghanistan

  1. What the hell is with all these photo ops of Special Ops troops? The Navy SEALS went crazy with it and so are the Aussies. Doesn't sit right with me. You don't see the SAS willingly plastering themselves everywhere. If you want public glory, go find another job.

    1. good points. ya know who you NEVER see. SBS. i mean never. its likethose guy don't exist. you know who you have to work hard to see now? SF. but as far as the rest, splattered all over the place. i really posted this for the guys that are into it. i'm more into Marines and armor but some like it and i got alittle agreement with some bloggers in Asia. they'e hitting me with armor and i'm searching here for things of interest to them.

  2. Aren't there only like 200 SBS personnel at any time? All I know is that they are very small force structure and fully locked up on the publicity.

  3. Rohan, SBS are meant to be same size as 22 SAS regiment. Both are small (compared to US standards) units. But considering a couple of years back one was covering Afghan while the other did Iraq (I forget which is which), you do seem to hear a lot less about the SBS.

Sol, You want lack of publicity, try Britain's third SF arm, the SRR. The closest you'll get is a couple of hints of involvement in a messed up op in 2005 in London.
