A must follow...Dmitry Tymchuk's military blog

via Kyiv
Editor's Note: To counter Russian propaganda lies about the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine's Crimean peninsula on Feb. 27, Dmitry Tymchuk has set up the Center of Military and Political Research in Kyiv. He served in the Army air defense from 1995-1998, the National Guard from 1998-2000 and in the Defense Ministry in subsequent years on missions to Iraq, Lebanon and Kosovo. His blogs are translated into English by Voices of Ukraine. The Kyiv Post has not independently verified his findings, but will correct any misinformation brought to our attention at news@kyivpost.com or 38-044-591-3344 or any of our contacts at www.kyivpost.com/contacts.

Russian-terrorist troops continue active operations in the conflict zone in Donbas. After a number of unsuccessful advance attempts, a large-scale regrouping of Russian forces and illegal armed formations is underway. We have reports of maneuvers by insurgent forces and equipment in all sections of the ATO [Anti-terrorist operation] zone.
On Jan. 23-24, units of Russian-terrorist troops attempted to push back Ukrainian troops in the area of Pisky. The enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops in several sections, consecutively, using several infantry groups (total strength of 350-400 insurgents) and up to 25 armored vehicles, supported by cannon and rocket artillery. Met with powerful retaliation and incurring significant losses, Russian troops were forced to fall back to their initial positions.
NOTE!!!!  I'm lost in the woods when it comes to this conflict.  Up is down, down is up and sideways is normal.

Dmitry's blog give another perspective and in situations like this I want as many views as I can get to try and piece it all together to come up with a reasonable image of whats actually going on.  I'm not endorsing his blog but simply saying that it should be used as another information piece to help those that are interested arrive at some of the truth to this conflict.

SIDENOTE:  William sent me a link that has Russian ratings cut to JUNK STATUS.  If they can get loans in the future it will be at astronomical rates.  Whoever is designing this game against the Russians has gone from playing with fire to juggling hand grenades.  Again!  Put aside your normalcy bias and imagine what we would do if someone was actually doing damage to our economy.  Now think about Russian reaction when they believe that's what we're doing (still giving the administration the benefit of the doubt...even though evidence mounts against them).  This could actually lead to war.

  1. As you would call it " Is this guy smoking crack"

Read some of his previous blog post from 2014 , and what came true.

Russian propaganda is funny, but Ukrainian is tragic.

Yeah. I find a lot of amazing in Ukrainian internet sources reading . In SNAFU blog I find new info but nothing controversial with my reality. But Ukrainian sources are completely an another dimension – now they sit and await how Russia will die next day and how the West will help to Ukraine. Bggg.
Sooner or late , they will get that Maydan-2014 was not in self-shot in foot, but self-shot in head. They need completely brain-blowing propaganda to cover with bla-bla-bla the real disaster in their country. Tymchuk – is a typical example he input Russian hordes in Ukraine, then output, declaring “great victory of Ukrainian weapon”. Nice scheme, no doubt. But it will be painful “the gap template” if Russian military really invade.

  2. The nuclear weapon (financially speaking) is to kick Russia out of the SWIFT system. Ruble weakened to 68 to the dollar on the debt downgrade. If they lost access to the SWIFT system the ruble would go to over 100 to the dollar and all of the Russian banks and large companies that have issued dollar or euro denominated debt will go broke. Here's a good overview of swift http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-09-01/banning-russia-from-the-swift-payment-system-would-really-hurt

Bggg. Damn it – bankruptcy and M&A is one of my main specializations – and I’ll get a lot of job even 24 hours a day will be not enough!
Seriously speaking the main effect will be in Russian leaving dollars zone and provoking another countries to do it. Sooner or later oil prices will rise again, but Russia will trade our oil not in dollars.

  3. I was talking about the Timchuk propaganda joker.
BTW they won't risk to kick Russia out of SWIFT.
Right now political issue N1 in Europe is not Ukraine but the Greek election results.

  4. Ukraine cant have it both ways.
Either its inflicting a loss rate of 600:18 on the enemy, or Russia has blanketed the area with UAVs and is raining an artillery barrage on every site two Ukrainians sit down around a camp fire.

Kicking Russia out of SWIFT is unlikely.
It would be catastrophic no doubt, but it would end US financial hegemony, by forcing people to make their own transfer systems.

SWIFT local analog in Russia already exists. For foreign operations we can use another currency – yuan, for example.

      Its a secure communications system.

Yeah. It is instrument to fix and secure bank operations, giving more dynamic to them (attaching unique, guaranteed against hacking, number to each SWIFT message) – so inside country we already have analog, the question is how operational is it. But only practice can show (God forbid!).

He is very polite, that's unusual but he said "out off my face, please"... out off... Americans do not use that type of construction, not I'm ever meet anyone from US using it. Out off my face, PLEASE(!)... only two times I heard this type of construction, both times from South African.

    Bgggg…..No, not enough….HA!! HA!! HA!!
Nickname of this guy is “Tymchuck-No-loses”…Official “spoken head” to spread Ukrainian propaganda about brave Ukrainians killing millions of Russian invaders..nothing interesting, at my take…
@ If they can get loans in the future it will be at astronomical rates. @
I guess greatly better idea to take money(not in dollars) in BRICS bank, where rates will be estimated according to BRICS rating agency.
@This could actually lead to war.@
Proxy-hybrid war is already on a full march. For global war I see no preparations (in NATO countries and Russia as well). Proxy-hybrid war is more than enough to adjustment existing contradictions.

French rebels in Donbass – and not only French. Which consequences will became fruit for EU’s stability during Donbass rebellions. Survive Ukraine as a solid state or will shiver and shutter in several pieces and what will be then?
The main Russian economical loses connected with only oil-price factor – a global one. It who will have more problem after such price’s decreasing it is truly open question. And now with each next day I becoming more and more convicted that this game with oil – is a single game of Arabic world leading by Saudy Arabia. While Russia and USA clash in Ukraine, the Arabs tossed their trumps on the World playing table.
If it go to the Western sanctions as such it looks like one of Russians counter-strike will be forcing military cooperation with Iran (it will be a mutual answer to Saudi and the West both). As a variant.

This is one of the best short summaries I have seen.

From what I see, Ukraine is being ripped into pieces the US and Russia (the EU is not mutually exclusive from US interests either, they're one in the same).
