Eyewitnesses say Kasal brutally assaulted survivors of the initial crash. Kasal reportedly grabbed victims by their throat and crotch before spiking them into the asphalt and nearby parked cars.
“For a second I thought we had come across a Machamp,” said one survivor from a full body cast. “By the time I realized it was Sgt. Maj. Kasal, he had already buried his boot about six inches into my taint.”
A number of bystanders were injured during the assault. Kasal also totaled four cars and uprooted one tree.
Witnesses say Kasal loudly argued that “Millennials will be the downfall of my beloved Corps,” and he “long[ed] for the days of the Pepsi Generation!” throughout the attack.

And then this.

As a result, Kasal escaped down the amtrac ramp, witnesses say, and shouted 
at the top of his lungs that he was surrounded by pussies before jumping into the water.
Kasal’s rampage and subsequent escape have left some survivors concerned about family members.
“He yelled something about finding my mother and making sure she ended up having a son she could eventually be proud of,” said one Marine who underwent emergency surgery to have a cell phone removed from his rectum.
“Does this mean Sgt. Maj. Kasal is going to be my stepdad?”

You would think that if you rose to the position of commanding a Division that you'd know to facts of life in planning a coup.  First fact?  Civilians must die.  The reaction by the military to protesters sealed their fate.  Massive firepower should have been laid down to keep people inside.  Second?  YOU MUST KILL THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE!

This was poorly planned and now they're gonna reap the rewards of that failure.  Too bad.  This was Turkey's last chance to remain a 1st world nation.

Turkey was once a promising nation.  They appear to have chosen to go the way of other Islamic states and their will be a price for that choice.  I hope the Turkish people understand what they've done.  The progress from the 80's has been undone in one decade.  They're on a downward spiral for sure.

A Black Hawk of the Turkish police that had been used by Turkish officials used in the attempted military coup landed at an airport at Alexandroupolis, northern Greece, according to reports by the Greek national broadcaster ERT.
Eight people were on the plane, of which seven wore uniforms and one was a civilian. The uniformed passengers had stripped identification from their uniforms so that their rank and units could not be identified.
The helicopter asked to land at the airport, citing mechanical failure. Two Greek F16 fighter jets had accompanied the plane from the island of Lemnos after it entered Greek air space.
Once at the airport, 4-5 Greek police cars surrounded the helicopter and arrested the passengers, who asked for political asylum. The matter caused a huge “headache” to the Greek government and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is in communication with all ministries to discuss the handling of the issue.

Hmm.  What to do.  Grant asylum to the people that attempted to unseat an enemy or seek a new "start" by returning them?

Quite honestly returning them is the easiest solution.  They might not gain a thing but they immediately get rid of an irritant.  Keeping them would be a new rally point for Turkish rage.

This bears watching.

Leclerc MBT better than the M1 Abrams?

The comparative effectiveness of modern tank armor is difficult to calculate, but the Leclerc and the M-1 appear to have similar frontal armor, though some critics argue the Leclerc’s frontal plate has more weak points around its sensors. In place of the M-1’s Chobham composite armor, the Leclerc boasts an unusual mix of composite, traditional and reactive armor that is slightly more effective against kinetic penetrators fired by other tanks.

The Leclerc’s side armor, however, is clearly superior to the M-1’s. Newer models also feature titanium armor inserts and explosive-reactive armor bricks on the side — belts of explosives that prematurely detonate incoming missiles and shells.

Finally, a Galix grenade launcher in the turret can discharge a variety of munitions including flashbang grenades, high explosives, multi-spectral screening smoke and infrared decoys that can confuse missiles.

Read this thing.  The implication is that the Leclerc is superior to the Abrams as proven by its performance in Yemen.  The author clears that up a bit after making the claim but it still hangs there.

But that isn't really what caught my attention.  What does make me wonder is the claim that the Leclerc "clearly" has superior side armor.  The other thing is the quality of our export model armored vehicles in comparison to other Western nations.  Did the French sell top quality tanks while we sold "de-tuned" models?  If so then that explains the low sales figures for our vehicles in comparison to the Leopard and Leclerc.  Its kinda hard to sell someone second rate gear when they can get better for the same price.

I think this article is more click bait then reality.  Surely the Leclerc isn't superior to the Abrams!  Right?

In what has to be the most poorly planned coup in the history of man, Erdogan retains power.

Why would you plan a coup and not immediately kill the guy that you're seeking to replace?  If this is an indication of military leadership in the West then its no wonder why the combined strength of NATO is incapable of defeating 40K (MAX) ISIS fighters in the open desert.

But ignoring the lack of skill by the Turkish military coup leaders.  Ignoring the Turkish public that went into the streets to support a madman that is seeking dictatorial powers (and will now not only get them but will ask for even more).

The real question is why is the US supporting him?

Istanbul's Bosphorus Bridge and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge were both closed on Friday, local television channels reported, without giving a reason.
Dogan News Agency footage showed cars and buses being diverted. CNN Turkey showed two military vehicles and a group of soldiers lined up at the entrance of one of the bridges in Turkey's biggest city.
A Turkish official who did not want to be named said soldiers had been deployed in other cities in Turkey, but did not specify which ones.
Dogan News Agency reported the national police directorate summoned all police to duty in Ankara.

Well we know it isn't a coup, unless a relatively junior (talking Colonel in this case) officer is trying to pull something.  My guess is a major anti-terror operation.  I can imagine that the terror attack in France has all the security forces in Europe acting proactively to prevent a copy cat.

The only part of the story that gives me pause is the National Police Directorate calling all police to duty.

Could it be a coup?  What the fuck is going on in Turkey?

Remember the Mumbai Massacre?  Do you remember the stories that came out of how they treated an old Jewish couple?  They castrated the man and shoved his genitals into his mouth (and let him bleed out) after they raped his wife in front of him?

Well it looks like the terrorist in that previous terror attack in the Bataclan did the same.  Check this out...

A French government committee has heard testimony, suppressed by the French government at the time and not released to the media, that the killers in the Bataclan tortured their victims on the second floor of the club.

Police witnesses in Parliament said they vomited when they saw the disfigured bodies.

Wahhabist killers apparently gouged out eyes, castrated victims, and shoved their testicles in their mouths. They may also have disemboweled some poor souls. Women were stabbed in the genitals – and all the torture was, victims told police, filmed for Daesh or Islamic State propaganda. For that reason, medics did not release the bodies of torture victims to the families, investigators said.

We will not win this war with the strategy we have now.  Its too soft, too forgiving....our enemy is playing for keeps and we're playing to, well I don't know what we're playing to.

I wonder about one thing though.

If the French govt knew this then so did our own (that includes anyone that lives in a Western country, not just the US).  Additionally I believe the major news services throughout the West also knew about this torture.

Are we seeing a team up of Govt and the media to keep the public UNINFORMED?

Forgetting all that I repeat.  We will not win this war the way we're fighting it now.

This is the terror attack that killed the EU.

Economics put the EU on the brink.  Poor countries felt the burden of the EU economic system coupled with globalism in ways that the rich countries in the Union didn't.

Open borders for the flow of people across borders led to tensions among EU citizens, but illegal immigration from the Middle East and Africa has pushed it over the edge.

Terrorism and sexual assaults will be the nail that kills the EU.

I thought that Europe would burn this summer.  I was right but didn't state it strongly enough.  Europe is about to return to nationalism in a big way.

It was a nice dream but it couldn't survive the modern age.  Call it too much too fast driven by the visions of dreamers, not realists.

Side note:  I'm still waiting for the inevitable.  Sooner or later people will start to ignore the advice of politicians.  Sooner or later the refrain of "just live your lives....if you change your behavior then the terrorists win" will fall on deaf ears.  One or two more of these types of attacks and large gatherings will be a thing of the past.  Terrorism could quite literally freeze the US and European economy.
