Politics Talk. China can't spur global economic growth...it's taken a major hit...

Follow the link to the article. Well worth the read.

What the fuck!  I didn't expect to see this type of action from Russians...soldiers or mercenaries...something is seriously broken with these dudes.

Wonder if the Russian govt will act?

Politics Talk. Did the medical establishment push too far with social distancing...

This whole thing started with applause for the medical professionals and the governors that started the crack down.

Now?

Now we're seeing pushback all across the nation.  We're seeing governors lifting restrictions (slowly) while citizens appear to be disobeying orders all over the place.

Unfortunately we've seen violence occur over not following those rules.  Security guards shot and killed, one had his arm broken and a Texas Park Ranger pushed into a creek.  That's been against authority figures.  Against fellow citizens gunfire has resulted and if not taken to that extreme then we've seen fights.

On social media on one hand we see nurses crying about being in war zones and then the next we see nurses doing choreographed dance routines.

Medical professionals continue to talk the social distancing meme.  Governors and other politicians too.

Is this a case of them being loved today and hated tomorrow?

Late Open Comment Post. 20 May 2020...plus a few things...

Just a few things to keep readers informed...

1.  Dealing with a bit of being under the weather so blogging will be light...

2.  Dealing with my Pops being under the weather so blogging will be light...

3.  Comments.  I'm amazed that this can be so contentious.  I prefer Open Comments to cover topics that are of interest to readers.  They've been free flowing and often touch on political/social/military topics that I haven't heard of.  Lately its devolved into a Turkey vs Greece fight.  That ain't cool.  On a personal note I tell people to focus on the here and now and make plans for the future.  Be aware of the past but if you dwell on it you're cheating yourself.  Same applies here.  But to add to even that I just don't care.  Specifically ALPAY post topics on the Turkish military.  I welcome that and if I had readers posting about their nations efforts I'd welcome it too (Russia, China, India, Romania, Poland, S. Africa and all points inbetween).  I don't welcome the debate about wars/conflicts/issues from the past.  I don't do it with the civil rights fight and won't allow it with other things.  If you go there then expect the comments to be deleted (when I get around to it).

4.  Hang in with me boys...we'll be back to normal soon.

Note.  I forgot all about ANGLICO.  They've been off the radar screen for awhile.  That should change with the new concept being pushed.  Quite honestly they should go from bastard step child to the new golden boys with calls for fire/fire coordination coming to the forefront.

MilRem Robotics Type-X Robotic Combat Vehicle...

Thanks to the many people that gave me a heads up on this!

Wow.  Kinda looks like a modernized Centurion Main Battle Tank.  Looks good and the form factor seems right (small size and I'm guessing a 50mm gun?).

Yeah, MilRem is doing it big time.  I'm fanboy on this!  Wonder if the USMC is serious about experimentation...if they are, perhaps they should get a few into the field to see how they might fit...God knows the Army probably will!

Indian Army Border Roads Organisation is dedicated to keep the lines of communication open

This!

This is where the fight between China and India will take place.  Never heard of this Indian Army organization but it's a no brainer and probably a key to fighting in this terrain.

Helicopters operating at this altitude will face diminished cargo capability so keeping the roads open to allow trucks to resupply forces becomes even more vital.

This explains so much.  Like why the Chinese are building a light tank to fight in these mountains.  Like why the Indians are attempting to build purpose built helicopters to operate at this altitude.

India is facing a two front war.  Pakistan on one side and China on the other.  My prediction is that India will cross swords with China before we finally get our turn...but that's just my guess.  My fear is a coordinated attack.  A major dust up between India and Pakistan with China attempting to gobble up terrain while India is distracted.

Time to Put the Broken and Bloated F-35 Program to Rest

Story here.

You ever read an article and damn near cheer?  I mean an article that hits on almost every point you've ever made?

The problem is that this article is late (even as I was late to the realization that the F-35 was gobbling up the Marine Corps) and much damage is already done.  BUT IT'S NOT TOO LATE to course correct.

The good news?

We're getting a few inklings of that course correction.  The USMC is gonna leave a few hundred programmed F-35s unbuilt.  The USAF is buying the F-15EX.  The US Navy is pursing the F/A-18 Super Hornet Block III.

Even Marine Corps planning guidance seems to indicate that the F-35 isn't all its cracked up to be with the emphasis on ground launched anti-ship missiles.

We can still fix this.  How do we do it?  By not wasting more money on a failed project.  When money is short you have to be smart.  The US military will have to be smart because we're entering an era where bread and butter will win out over defense.
