Actually this book is an adaption of the novel "The Eagle of the Ninth" written by Rosemary Sutcliff. Although primarily a children's novel, the quality and depth of this book also appeals to adults.
I read it as a teenager, while I had Latin at school in Germany. This book is so good, that I kept a copy in my bookshelf all over the years. Maybe my son will read it in a few years...
