More evidence that Amos is 100% pussy.

via Defense News.
The Marine Corps Times posted a pretty explosive story this morning explaining how and why Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Jim Amos stripped a three-star general of his authority to prosecute the Marines who has taken video of themselves urinating on dead Taliban fighters in 2011.
Documents obtained by the paper include a declaration signed by Lt. Gen. Thomas Waldhauser, who was removed from overseeing the case against the Marines by Gen Amos after he refused to kick the accused Marines out of the Corps.
The Times writes that:
The commandant wanted the Marines “crushed,” Waldhauser says in his statement, and asked if the steps Waldhauser was taking would result in their dismissal from the Corps. When Waldhauser pushed back, the statement continues, Amos threatened to remove him from the case, he said, and later directed the assistant commandant to deliver the news to Waldhauser that he was doing exactly that.
The commandant’s decision to reassign the cases was not explained publicly before now. In May, a source within the commandant’s office told Marine Corps Times that Waldhauser was removed from the job because his future role as the defense secretary’s adviser was of supreme importance and he needed time to prepare. That explanation proved untrue.

Wow.  The motherfucker is a liar.  Not surprising news at all.

I hated the bastard before.  Now I totally despise Amos.  I wondered if the disease that is Amos had spread to the rest of the Corps.

I am pleased to see that General Waldhauser, General Simcock and others are keeping the flame alive.

At least there are a few REAL leaders left in the Corps.  There is only one thing wrong with the Marine Corps and that's Amos.  Time for that son of a bitch to leave.

So the Marine Corps will be fixed when he leaves? that was easy.

  2. I noticed this go up about three minutes after I vented about it. Plain and simple, Amos needs to go. This is a failure of leadership, and nothing more than a manipulative abuse of power and position. This is not the example a service chief should set. Honestly, I would love to see charges preferred against Amos for this, as this is conduct unbecoming.

  3. Those Marines need to be re-tried, and I think he should resign. I don't agree with what those Marines did, (I don't agree with it, but I understand it), I don't like scapegoats, and I don't like the idea of command influence or interference in their cases, and I loath people "being made examples of".

Now since subtlety is one of those things you have a hard time with when we are talking about "daddy Amos" I will try to make this clear:

I do not like that he caved so easily with women in combat.

I do not like this story one bit.

    However:

I do agree with what he has been doing with procurement given the situation we are in, and I do not blame him to the extent that you do Sol. From what I have seen, and What I know, I would be making the same moves that Amos would regarding procurement given the cards that are on the table, and I do not place the MPC, EFV, JSF on him and him alone. I believe there is plenty of blame to go around on that, and as I just said, I do not believe in scape goats.

If Amos does resign, I don't see the procurement situation changing. Simply put-- Amos is not the only thing that is stopping the USMC from getting MPCs. Its a lot more complicated and political than that and it goes beyond the commandant's office.

You should take heart though that this story was in the Times.

    1. how do you so simply dismiss his lack of judgement when it comes to the care and discipline of Marines and his wisdom when it comes to procurement.

quite honestly, i've always been suspicious of the guy and it appears that they're being proven true. if we can't trust him to tell the truth when it comes to a pretty simple personnel matter then why should we believe him when he says that we MUST not delay the F-35 program.

question. instinct told me that Amos was dirty and a little glittering sneezing, ass kissing politician that wormed his way into the Commandant's chair. how come your instincts didn't tell you the same.

I know you are really thick headed, but I have said on multiple occasions that its not "his wisdom" on procurement. Its what there is, and he is playing it just like the next guy will. no buck, no buck rogers.

"why should we believe him when he says that we MUST not delay the F-35 program."

He didn't say that. I did, as did many posters here. based on a procurement schedule and the realities of the F-35 plan. Again think Sol. Use your brain, its the thing that makes pretty pictures in your head when you are jerking off.

In fact Amos said he would cut the F-35. Google is your friend.

What did your instincts say about the F-35 again? I mean you are never wrong. You never miss the canary in the coal mine right?
