Eitan IFV modification

Thanks to זאב ברנזון for the pic!

Sweet. I like this...I like it alot....now how long will it take the Israeli's to get this onto the market or in production so the US Army can have their Striker replacement.

War Hawk Lindsey Graham says military option inevitable in N. Korea...

via CNN
When asked about the US government's strategy on handling North Korea, GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham suggested Tuesday using military options to halt threats from the country.

"There is a military option to destroy North Korea's (missile) program and North Korea itself," Graham said on NBC's "Today" show. "If there's going to be a war to stop them, it will be over there. If thousands die, they're going to die over there, they're not going to die here and (President Donald Trump) told me that to my face."
He continued: "I'm saying (military options are) inevitable if North Korea continues."

Do me a favor.  Watch this guys interviews on this subject this morning.  He has a new bone and he's gonna shake this one for all it's worth.

Suffice it to say that the Neo-Cons have found their new plaything and the little fat bastard is gonna play into their hands and kill probably millions of people as a result.

The war drums have been put away.  We're hearing war hammers.  This thing is coming and the chance to resolve it peacefully probably passed this spring while everyone was focused on supposed Russian influence in our election (I still have not heard how putting out information on a candidate is interfering...Hillary was hated and the Republican elite in the form of Bush weren't liked much more!).

Mark my words...sometime this winter...between Nov and Feb will be when this kicks off.  Yep I'm making the call.  We will see bombs drop in N. Korea fairly soon.

Meet the SU-57 and National Interest is wrong...our pilots should be very afraid!

via National Interest.
Initially, Moscow will only buy 12 Su-57 aircraft, which are expected to be delivered in 2019. Indeed, the Russian air force is not likely to buy more than 60 of the initial version of the Su-57 in total.

“In 2019, we should begin the delivery of a pre-production batch of [T-50] planes,” United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) chief Yuri Slyusar told the TASS news agency.

One of the reasons the Russians are less than enthused at buying the initial version of the Su-57 is because the stealth fighter is currently powered by interim Saturn AL-41F1 afterburning turbofans producing 32,500lbs thrust each. That is the same engine as the existing Su-35S Flanker-E, which uses many of the same systems that the Su-57 will.

Indeed, with exception of stealth, the new Flanker offers much of the same capabilities as the new fifth-generation fighter. Thus, the Russians are unwilling to spend money on a system that offers only a marginal increase in performance in their view.

“Su-35 fighters of the 4+ generation, according to military pilots, demonstrated very good characteristics,” Russian deputy defense minister Yuri Borisov said according to the Russian media.

The Russians intend to buy more of the second, improved version of the Su-57, which will feature a new engine and other enhancements. The Russians are continuing to develop the next-generation Saturn izdeliye 30 engines for the T-50. There are few details available about the izdeliye 30 engines, but the new powerplant is expected to deliver 24,054lbs dry thrust and 39,566lbs of afterburning thrust.

Yahoo's link to the story in which they posted the "Russian fighter might be a waste of time" meme is what caused my title is here.

I want the US military to be the undisputed greatest on the face of the earth.  I want our pilots to enter battle without a single doubt regarding the outcome.  My desire is that when enemy pilots face the US they know that their mothers will be mourning their deaths in a few minutes and that their country will lose air superiority...no matter where we're fighting them!

Having said that this SU-57 program should be concerning on a couple of levels.

First, it appears that the Russians have done an analysis on the F-35 and aren't worried one bit.  I'd take that even further and state that it appears that they believe the SU-35 will be more than a match for it.  From my chair it appears that they believe that the SU-35 will beat the F-35 in any conceivable match up and there is no rush to get an advanced airplane into the sky.

Only God knows what the Chinese are thinking but the J-31 is moving along at a leisurely pace, the J-20 is zooming ahead ( probably with the mission of destroying our Tankers, AWACs and hazarding our shipping) while the J-10 and J-11 are forming the backbone of their forces.

Second, the Russians are proceeding in an orderly fashion.  They aren't pushing ahead to rush the plane into service.  We're seeing a normal development pattern and not the idiocy that accompanies the F-35.  No concurrency, no buy of the planes too early, no declaration of an IOC that even an armchair commentator knows was bullshit and no outrageous prices will be tolerated.

Our pilots should be afraid.

They're gonna enter combat in an airplane that is optimized to be a midlevel bomber for wars against terrorist is somehow morphing into a do it all fighter that it was never meant to be.  If supporters can get past the general worship and off their knees pleasuring the pilots of the plane then they could see the truth.

Western air power is in jeopardy.

What is the turret on the Namer?

Everyone has seen the new turret for the NAMER APC but no one seems to know who makes it.  I'm off to a late start today but I find it curious that so little information has come out with this first showing.

Oh and make no mistake.

I've scoured Elibt, Rafael, IAI, PLASAN and even IWI looking to see who might have made this thing but  no luck.  Anyone have any credible information on this?

MARSOC and Army Rangers prepping for a raid into hell?

Thanks to Overwatch DVA for the link!

According to a report in South Korea's Munhwa Ilbo newspaper, which cites an unidentified government official, South Korea's military is preparing a "surgical strike" scenario that could wipe out North Korean command and missile and nuclear facilities following an order by S.Korea's President Moon Jae-in. Munhwa adds that the military is to report the scenario to presidential office after completing it as early as August 1.

As the report details, South Korea's Special Forces are preparing a special strike op which would be launched in response to President Moon Jae-In's order to remove the North Korean leadership in case of emergency. This operation is taking place in addition to separate preparations currently conducted by the country's military forces.

Targeted by the surgical strike would be North Korea's core facilities. As part of the operation, South Korea's forces would launch Taurus cruise missiles from F-15 fighters, which would be able to strike all key facilities in Pyongyang and can also strike the office of the Chairman of the Labor Party, Kim Jong Eun, at the Pyongyang Labor Party headquarters.

The newspaper also adds that the South Korean military's own strike-hit scenarios include plans to create a special mission brigade of 1,000 to 2,000 at the end of this year with plans to eliminate war leadership figures such as Kim Jong Un and paralyze warfare command facilities in case of emergency. The military authorities have already commenced the CH-47D (Chinook) performance improvement project to transport these special mission brigades

According to the military authorities on March 31, the South Korean military's own strike-hit scenario is being drafted jointly by the Strategic Planning Division of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Ministry of National Defense, rather than the National Security Office of Cheong Wa Dae, and the "Nuclear Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) It was known as the core department. The nuclear and WMD response centers will take on a major role in the early response, and will be activated in response to the North Korean nuclear and missile threats once they cross a critical "Red Line" threshold.
Zero Hedge story here and the article they linked is here.

I have to give HQMC a bit of credit on this one.  They've tried there best to bring back MARSOC a bit into  the fold but of course the organization has resisted.  Too bad.

SOCOM needs adult supervision and unfortunately they've developed a bureaucracy that isn't about warfighting but more about publicity, image and budget.

That will get guys killed.

Even worse?

They know that the focus is slowly but surely turning from the Middle East.  Conventional forces will be ascendant unless they can claw out a future in the wars of the future.  The Mega-City fight they've been proposing is NOT gaining traction (thank God!!!!) so the next frontier is to make themselves war winners in these type standoffs.

Russia's success in the civil war against Ukraine isn't helping matters.  I've heard whispers that some believe that our approach should mirror what we've seen there and it looks like that might be somewhat in play here.

It wouldn't shock me one bit if they already aren't running missions into N. Korea.  Prepping the battlefield as they say.

But this report we see today is shocking.  I've mused about a raid into hell being led by MARSOC and Army Rangers but I thought it was pure fiction.  How many battalions of each would you need to successfully decapitate their govt?  How many more would you need to successfully seize the nukes?

The only thing I've ever heard that rivals this madness is a raid to seize Iranian or Pakistani nukes (I have heard from extremely credible people that there ARE plans to do exactly that).

But back on task.

If this turns into a "Joint Special Operations" raid then we could be looking at an all hands on deck situation...a Special Ops Olympics from hell.

I'm talking to even make it possible you would probably need USAF Pacific and almost all their assets...US Navy Pacific would need to beef up its air arm with at least a couple if not more carriers (bringing the total to about 6...I'm including land and carrier based aircraft)...USMC Pacific would probably see half the Marine Corps' airpower deployed along with the 160th, a couple of US Army Combat Aviation Brigades and a few dedicated USMC HMLA Squadrons dedicated solely to provide rotary air support to these guys.

As far as SOCOM operators (I'll call them warriors from this point on) I think the entire US Army Ranger Regiment, every swinging dick in MARSOC, half the available SEAL Teams...I have no idea how many Special Forces Detachments all setup to make this run.

I'm just arm chair quarterbacking but I'd bet we'd be seeing something like 50% casualty rate even if things work perfectly.

I have no idea how this would work out except that it will be bloody.

This could make or break US Special Ops.  If it works but casualties are prohibitive then policy makers will finally be shaken out of the belief that SOCOM warriors can solve all their problems (even though SOCOM leadership should have been pointing that out all along).  If it fails then we could see moves to push SOCOM back into the services.

Either way even with token support from S. Korea and Japan it's gonna be a US affair.  It's gonna be US blood spilled on Korean soil and it's not gonna be pretty no matter how it works out.

I've seen some SOCOM leadership and they appear arrogant as hell.  I've seen some MARSOC guys, some Army Rangers that seemed like dazed and confused Marines that like doing silly shit!  I've seen some SF guys that were cool as the other side of the pillow.  Never met SEALs but haven't liked what I've seen in the press but heard that for the most part they're chilled as fuck.

It doesn't matter if they're all raging assholes.

This doesn't sound like a mission I'd send anyone on except maybe my ex-wife.

If this comes to pass then God bless them all and good luck.  They're gonna need it if my musing is correct.

Side Note.  Add this to the war hammers beating on the peninsula.  This news is coming from S. Korea...not the Pentagon.  Many have said that when the S. Koreans get nervous then they'd start paying attention.  Well guess what.  The S. Koreans are sounding nervous!

Awesome new turret for NAMER IFV! via Israeli Ministry of Defense Instagram Page.

A post shared by Israel Ministry Of Defense (@modisrael) on

Need a Hebrew reader to let us know what's being said please!

I want to know the announcement at the beginning...having said that I haven't been too impressed with Israeli technological improvements lately.  They appeared to have been resting on their laurels and while we've seen product improvement with many systems, in others they seemed to be lagging a bit.

One area was RWS turrets..especially for large caliber cannons.  Seems like they're getting their mojo back!  I don't know the specs but if this checks out and it already has a built in APS then the Marine Corps should say fuck it and we just found our new system for the ACV!

THAAD Missile-Defense System Intercepts Test Target Over Pacific Ocean

This is almost humorous!

The S. Korean President has suddenly done a complete 180 and is now BEGGING for more missile defense for his country.  The US Army has been talking multi-domain warfare for a year and now they're testing the shit out of the THAAD system.

The reality in my mind?  Figure out where the Burke Class Anti-Missile Ships are.  We know that system works and will get the job done.

The biggest future seller when it comes to arms sales for those naval powers that can afford it?  The Navy's integrated firepower scheme.  N. Korea might have done the Pentagon a favor.

They finally have a threat to the nation that isn't amorphous, vague and up for debate.  The N. Korean ballistic missiles CAN change the lives of the people in a major US city.

The Pentagon just got dragged kicking and screaming (thanks policy makers and EVERY previous administration that kicked the can down the road) back to their real reason for being.  NOT TO PROTECT ALLIES but to protect the United States of America!

The idiocy of Russian sanctions....

U.S. military assets such as multiple M1A2 Abrams tanks, M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and M777 Howitzers arrive to where the opening ceremony for Exercise Noble Partner will occur....photo by Sgt. Shiloh Capers

The US just imposed sanctions on Russia and predictably the Russians have retaliated.

If you ever wonder why I think the interests of the United States are being actively undermined by the Deep State, Establishment Republicans/Democrats and Neo-Cons then look no further than this latest action from Congress.

Why now?

The US and Russia are on the cusp of finally putting a nail thru the heart of ISIS.  The US finds itself on the edge of full scale combat with N. Korea...for the first time in history a minor power has the capability to hazard a major US city.  Not the Soviet Union or China but a piss ant country ran by a crazy little fat boy can hold an American city under his thumb.

Issues still rage in Afghanistan.  The situation in Ukraine is still unresolved.  Yemen is still a basket case.  Saudi Arabia and the rest of GCC seems hell bent on punishing the UAE for a crime I still haven't heard spoken of in the clear.

In other words the world is in turmoil and instead of seeking to chill things out the Congress has added another situation to the pile instead.

This was a terrible time to "punish" Russia.  The lack of strategic thinking is awe inspiring.  It's almost criminal.

This isn't about anything but weakening Trump.

This is base politics and the Republicans are playing along.

At a time when we need Russian cooperation they choose to go this way instead?  We need a complete purge of Congress.  Stupid should not run the country and our Congress Critters are nothing but stupid.

U.S. Bombers Conduct Bilateral Mission With Allies In Response To North Korea ICBM Launch (vid)

This is LAME!

Why is our response so predictable and weak?  No one cares about a "demonstration" of force that's just a few aircraft flying close to the border!  We do that shit every damn day anyway!!!!!

It's just like sanctions.  We've used that card so much that we're helping develop a system outside of our control.  Even with the latest sanctions against Russia, the US media is ignoring the fact that Merkel is the MAIN ONE complaining!

We've got to totally rethink our drink.  Our govt has gone back to the well several times too many and the demonstrations of disapproval no longer even get the attention of people like me anymore!

When I post a vid with the intention of slamming the operation then you know you have a problem.  When that operation is to deter N. Korea and I believe that we could see war on that peninsula then that's worse.

MMA News. Jones destroyed Cormier and Cyborg sent a message but deleted it!

I didn't even watch this one.  The result was predictable and the fight wasn't compelling.  Cormier was never in Jon Jones class and any fight fan knew it.  If Jones could keep from doing bonehead things and popping on every little stupid drug test then the belt would be his again.

Last night proved that right.

As far as the ladies division?  It's dying the same death that Women's bodybuilding has.  At least the mass monster part of ladies bodybuilding.  Bikini and Fitness class is still going strong but the huge women?  They're going the way of the Dodo bird and so is Women's MMA.

When you have the owner of a company saying that his women's champ looks like a male fighter in a dress then you know things aren't going well.

I'm just the messenger so don't hate me.  I'm calling it like I see it.

Having said that I got a direct message from Cyborg last night but when I went to retrieve it this morning it had been deleted.  I SO WISH I COULD READ WHAT SHE SAID!  Cyborg is skilled and she obviously has good genetics but the androgens she's taking are wrecking her body.

The problem for her?  She's in a position now where she can't stop or even slow down (I guess she could retire as champ but that would require her to choose between money and health...a simple choice for many but not her).

My prediction?  She'll fight and cycle so that she doesn't get busted and will retire in a year or two.  The MMA women's division will be in turmoil and fans will go away and not return.  Dana was right but in the wrong way.  Women's MMA could flourish but it needed tight controls but once the juiceheads invaded it took them down a dead end street.
