Breaking up domestic terror groups....US internal security just got their roadmap
Been reading some of the comments on what comes next for the rioters in DC. Many just don't seem to get it. This is a huge win for domestic terror experts. They have their holy grail and a roadmap to trace the infrastructure of various groups. From racists, to anti-govt, to you name it, this thing just bust open the various webs, AND their supporters.
The idea isn't to actually deter the hardcore, actual criminal elements in them. They're too far gone and you will either have to kill, arrest or have them on the run from prosecution. They're true believers and you can't kill a semi-religious belief system.
The real target is their supporters.
The middle class person that has skin in the game, pay their taxes etc...When push comes to shove they will fold like a dollar bill. Those are the types that are scared shitless of jail (and they should be...they'll be whored out so fast it'll make them dream of better days), don't want to be pennyless and living on the streets and are for all intents living a decent life but feel like they're being bashed by the system.
That's what makes the DC riot such an intel win for internal security agencies in the US. Oh and it won't just stop at the riot for those folks.
The IRS, ATF, and a few other state agencies will be looking at them too. If they have one line item wrong on their taxes, failed to register x, y or z in a certain state, ... you get the idea... then they're gonna get slobber knocked.
This crisis won't go to waste. Scalps will be hung on the wall one way or another.
Riots in DC not enough to get your attention? Wait till Trump pardons himself!
Monitoring the news before I hit the gym and what do I see? The talking heads are discussing rumors of Trump pardoning himself.
He's been impeached for a second time.
I'm not sure the Senate will protect him from the charges (saw the video...technically he didn't call for riots BUT it can be implied) although conviction will be a sticky thing.
So what if he does pardon himself?
First thing that comes to mind is that DC will be in an uproar, the public will be trying to get on with life and the news media will be going batshit crazy.
Second thing that comes to mind is that Biden's first 100 days will be completely trashed.
Third thing is that if he pardons himself AND everyone that entered the capitol then we're fucked politically for the rest of the year.
2020 was bad. 2021 will be worse.
Uganda revealed as Hizir APC customer
Apparently the idea of MRAP type trucks turned full on combat vehicles is here to stay. Don't know if its a good idea or not but everyone is onboard with it. Want a kick in the pants? If you look at what the French are doing then you're looking at a TOTALLY motorized force. No one will walk, everyone will ride. The number of new vehicles/refurbished is borderline amazing. Pic post coming later today.
Is this real?

Its weird.
In the short term it would be fantastic. If the Europeans standardized on a few IFVs and were able to get the magic of group logistics going it would be great.
In the long term the killing of innovation by killing off various armor builders would be (I think) deadly, dangerous and debilitating.
Balancing industry is hard work.
If the Italians get real deal domestic production would that mean that their design bureaus would remain open? Is the old Soviet model the answer for European countries? Standardization on particular models (Leopard 2A7 for MBT for example) while everyone has a design bureau to work on the next big thing?
I don't know but its an option.
Great Twitter Thread from Jon Hawkes on US Army Ground Vehicle Development...
Its that fun time of year where we get to see everything wrong with US vehicles (and other kit, but I’m a land warfare kind of man) – the Director, Operational Test & Evaluation reports are out!
