Ok. Now I think its time to buckle up for a rough ride. The Coronavirus is in Israel and that I beleive means its almost certainly in Syria...which means its gonna hit Turkey, Southern Europe in a rough way, spread all over the Middle East and then play HOLY HELL in Africa and India.
This is a pandemic.
I'm early but I believe I'm right.
This thing is global. How hard will it hit? Gas in my area is under 2 dollars a gallon. We've heard talk about supply chain disruptions and I believe that will increase.
The real question is this. What will happen to the goods that we all need for everyday survival? Does it make sense to check preps? Should we start stockpiling before the rest of the public catches on?
Fuck yeah this is possibly alarmist, but what happens when the mainstream news media starts broadcasting this wide? Big cities will certainly be slammed and I can't help but wonder what this will do to the "just in time" supply of various items.

The other obvious countries to be hit. We can figure Libya and Egypt will be included in this hit parade so it will sweep into first Northern Africa and then the rest of that continent. In Iraq it will migrate toward Syria and you can bet that those busting at the seams refugee camps will suddenly have alot more room and be alot calmer due to people getting sick. With the snow on the ground you can also bet that transmission will be rapid and medical aid sparse.
Then onto Turkey and up the southern tip of Europe.

Is it time to bring back US Army Triple-Capability Divisions?
I saw this post and it stunned me. What the fuck is a "triple capability" division? A quick Google search helped me out. Head here and check out page 33 (if you're short on time...it's a great read).

Company sized elements is how we've been fighting (if not smaller) for the past couple of decades if not longer. BUT we're still wrapping our heads around super power conflict and what that might look like.
Does it make sense for the US Army to circle back to triple capability divisions? Are they in essence doing that now (just weakly)?

Let me hit you with this what if.
What if we could build lasers to protect against ICBMs? Yeah I know. They would have to be super powerful (probably need a dedicated nuclear reactor to power them...just guessing I don't know for sure) but the amount of power could be enough to render them null and void. Yeah you would still need to deal with whatever debris comes from shooting them down but better than a surface detonation right?

The Navy’s research and development portfolio will devote $30 million to a “next-generation medium amphibious ship design” that will likely be based on an Australian designer’s stern landing vessel.Story here.
Shortly after Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. David Berger took command of the service in July 2019, he began speaking of a new vision for the amphibious force – one that did not rely on a fleet of 38 traditional amphibious warships that the service had fought for for years, but instead would continue to leverage the aircraft-delivery power of the amphibious assault ship (LHA/LHD) and the command and control prowess of the amphibious transport dock (LPD) but also invest in new alternate amphibs to help the Marine Corps disperse its people and gear around the littorals.
The Navy and Marines announced in the Fiscal Year 2021 budget request that they will seek a medium amphibious ship that can support the kind of dispersed, agile, constantly relocating force described in the Littoral Operations in Contested Environment (LOCE) and Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations (EABO) concepts the Marine Corps has written, as well as the overarching Distributed Maritime Operations (DMO) from the Navy. According to a budget overview document, “a next-generation medium amphibious ship will be a stern landing vessel to support amphibious ship-to-shore operations.”
Why do "Change Agents" fail when it comes to altering the trajectory of an organization?
Because they fail to communicate their vision to the people that are necessary to bring it to light...they fail to get buy in so they fail to muster the support needed.
But they talk to other leaders and get them onboard so why do they fail? Because the rubber meets the road with the laborers, the little people that actually make things run.
Berger is proposing to be a change agent.
If this is where he's going then I'm thrilled at the possibilities.
So if I'm liking what I'm seeing then what's behind the drivel up top? Because Berger and the rest of HQMC needs to climb out of their foxhole and let us know where we're going. We're ready to climb aboard but they need to talk to us.
If this is a test then I can tell them that they passed with me and I'm looking forward to the experiments with this class of ship.
