‘Marines make excellent soldiers’...our boys are in good hands after getting the big green

 via Stars & Stripes

The Marines, dressed in that service’s digital camouflage, gathered Sunday at Gowen Field airport in Boise, Idaho, where they raised their right hands and became Idaho Army National Guardsmen, an online photo and caption showed.

All 39 of those transferring were reservists who’d served in Company C, 4th Tank Battalion, which disbanded a month earlier, the Idaho Army National Guard said in a statement. Ten more from the company joined other states’ National Guard units, it said. A tank company typically has about 80 Marines.

“We tried to match their Marine skill sets to an Army military occupational specialty as much as possible,” said Brig. Gen. Farin Schwartz, commander of the Idaho Army National Guard. “We’ll continue to pay them special attention for the foreseeable future to ensure their transition is as smooth as possible.”

Here.

Unwanted by the Missile Marine Corps, these US Marines will still continue to serve their country but under the banner of the US Army National Guard.

Good on them for continuing their service.

Good on National Guard leadership for "looking after them".  That's leadership.

A bad story with a good ending.  This is the best that we could hope for, for these former US Marines.

AFSOC looking for a "jet" tilt rotor as a replacement for the V-22..

via Military.com

But even if the Army does select the tiltrotor V-280, AFSOC Commander Lt. Gen. James Slife said the Valor is not advanced enough to replace the CV-22, the Air Force special operations variant of the V-22 tiltrotor transport aircraft.

"I don't see the V-280 as the replacement for the V-22," Slife told reporters at the Association of the Air Force's Air & Space Symposium.

"When the time comes for a follow-on to the V-22, I think we are looking ... for a generation beyond kind of tiltrotor technology," said Slife, who added later that AFSOC is looking for an aircraft that will provide speeds closer to "jet-like" performance. "We are not just looking at marginal improvement in speed and range and reliability. We are looking at a generational movement for vertical takeoff and landing capability going into the future."

Here.

Interesting.  Jet like speeds?  Even with a tilt rotor I don't think you're getting that.  Could AFSOC be looking for a tilt jet plane in the future?  Now that would be something!

Poland acquires Rosomak-S vehicles

 Story here

Weird.  Never knew that the Rosomak-S was simply the APC version of the vehicle.  No weapons on it so I guess you don't have to worry about it being used improperly.  Infantry WILL DISMOUNT FAR SHORT of the objective if the crews can't shoot back!

A Soviet soldier, a World War II veteran, is perhaps on his deathbed, reaching out to his past heroics.

This extremely disturbing yet weirdly uplifting pic is via Reddit Military Porn Page.  Alot more to Reddit than porn and hate pages!

Iranian government was considering assassinating Lana Marks, the American ambassador to South Africa

sofrep.official It has been revealed that the Iranian government was considering assassinating Lana Marks, the American ambassador to South Africa. With tensions between the United States and Iran mounting, this new information will likely usher in a new phase of escalation.

Politico.com broke the story late Sunday citing U.S. intelligence reports and statements from an unnamed U.S. government official familiar with the situation. The story was confirmed by another official who has seen the intelligence. According to a U.S. government official, the Iranian Embassy in Pretoria is involved in the assassination plot.

There are also reports that Iran is targeting the U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, Harry B. Harris.

CH 53K tests its power at U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground

Here.

I've crossed the rubicon. I'm concerned about spontaneous violence ...

I've personally crossed the rubicon.  I'm concerned about spontaneous violence now.

When law enforcement is being attacked on a regular basis then the average citizen is in serious danger.

If you're not dialed up then you're probably behind the power curve.  Because of work I've been tuned up for awhile but the danger is now more apparent than ever.

The problem?  Gun sales are going like gangbusters and when I went to the local dealer to upgrade from my Gen 3 G19 to a Gen 5 Glock 45 I was put on a waiting list...and I get blue label benefits.

As far as ammo you're on your own.  It's been flying off the shelves since Mar and its not in stock ANYWHERE!

Which leaves those that don't have weapons in a bit of a pickle.  What does that mean for the totally unprepared.

AWARENESS!

If you live in a major urban area then I hope God is with you.  I couldn't imagine and have no desire to venture there.  But if you must then get yourself into as good a physical shape as possible, get your situational awareness up to par and have plans for plans!

Good luck tribe.  Still don't believe a civil war is coming but sporadic violence against the unaware and unassuming?  You bet your ass.

This lady is hardcore!

That's hardcore.  I cheer her warrior spirit.  She got hit and kept going.  Well done. Extremely well done.

2S25 Spurt SD-M1 Light Tank Destroyer

I am so fascinated with this vehicle.  It's air droppable.  It can swim.  It's got a big gun on it!  Armor is a bit thin but we can make up for that with APS and proper maneuver.

Speed is life.

Maneuver is essential.

I like it!

A fantastic video on Indian Army T-90S Bhishma

Just curious.  What does Bhishma mean in the Indian language?

Harrier AV-8A (old skool vid)

If you're a Harrier fan then you should follow these guys on Twitter.  They have a VERY entertaining feed.

Video of Chinese HJ-10 ATGM used to attack moving target vehicle.

101st AASLT DIV has the largest air assault capability across the Department of Defense & continues to grow more lift capability to move more forces across the battlefield.

via 18th Airborne Corps Twitter Page...

Kinda funny.  Never really looked hard at US Army capabilities but now that I am I'm kinda impressed.  The 18th Airborne Corps alone is awfully impressive and that's before you add any dedicated armor to it.  Once they get their airborne tanks and squad carriers they're gonna be a pretty tough nut to crack on the battlefield.

Little Groups Of Paratroops are gonna be mobile...AND have shock action in the form of tanks with them.

That's a problem that will give enemy forces headaches.

Indian MBTs deploy to the China/India border...

Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputies gunned down while sitting in their cruiser.

NOTE!  I don't know what's going on with embedding Tweets but go here to see it on Twitter.

Fucking disgusting.  If there wasn't an escort and Deputies making people taste concrete then something is wrong.

Correction.

Something is already wrong for that to have even been necessary.

Side note.  WHAT THE FUCK!  That looked like a damn child (or maybe midget)...This shit is out of control.  It is out of control and the community will end up paying a heavy price for this shit!!!

Side note 1.  This happened 17hrs ago?  Why wasn't this shit front page news?  What is going on in America!!!!

Side note 2.  Wasn't there but I'm guessing they were going over paperwork and had head down getting it done.  After this?  They're gonna go somewhere they know they won't get hit to get it done.  What does that mean?  Response time will go down.  Known danger areas are gonna require at least two=two man units.  The most vulnerable parts of the city (which is probably all of Los Angeles) will suffer.  They kept these men from getting medical aid?  Life without law enforcement will be a life of misery for this community.  They just don't know what they've done.

Don't know what's going on with these links, embedded posts but I'm working on it!

When it rains it pours (and it'll pour some more when Hurricane Sally hits later this week) but yeah...I'm seeing the jacked up links and messed up embedded videos/Tweets.

I'm working on it.

Chill the out!

The Evolution Of Amphibious Military Vehicles

Story here @ HotCars.com

This is more a fun article rather than a serious look at the evolution of amphibious vehicles.  It mostly covers the evolution of the amphibious tractor to the ACV and leaves out alot of work done by other nations...from the Japanese, to the British,  Turkish/Russian/Korean forces and so on.

Fun read but very very very far from inclusive.
