Chinese Marines about to get the Z-8L...think CH-53D for comparison (I think!)
Has anyone noticed that the Chinese have NOT copied the V-22? I wonder what they see that makes them pause...Exactly for this I am waiting since months … a naval variant of the Army Aviation‘s Z-8L maybe for the PLANMC as a replacement or complement for the Z-8C. pic.twitter.com/wH3hj8xH0C

Why does the White House almost seem to be in a virtual panic because China and Russia are talking?
Have you been monitoring the news about the Russia/China talks and how the White House is responding?
From my chair it almost borders on pure panic.
But why?
I don't have a good answer but I'm thinking its the potential that they (Russia and China) could throw everything out of whack and disrupt the "plan".
What do I mean?
It appears obvious that the Pentagon, White House, and Ukraine fanatics would like to deal with Russia first then FINALLY pivot to the China problem.
Which leads me to the next theory.
If I was China's president I would back Russia to the hilt. I would damn near dare the West to try sanctions and if they did I would retaliate in full.
If I was in his chair I would guess that every leader in the West that supported sanctions would beg for some type of accommodation and Russia could be talked into limited gains.
They'd get Crimea and the two Russia speaking districts(?). Then declare the war over.
Meanwhile the economy of the West is in tatters (the banking issue shows how fragile things are right now) and China can turn to taking Taiwan with the US basically standing alone with NO European support (I think that was a fantasy anyway), serious diplomatic effort along with the threat of Japan can keep S. Korea on the sidelines, and the Australian Air Force and Navy are just too small to really make a difference.
Additionally our war stocks have been eviscerated and if they wait till early next year they'll be damn near expended to keep Ukraine in the fight.
We keep doing the long war thing and it keeps failing horribly.

Does this tell us about manning issues in Ukraine? About how they're organized?

2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, also known as the "War Dogs," engage targets using the M110 semi-automatic sniper system and the MK13 sniper rifle as part of a training and evaluation exercise with a mobile training team from Weapons Training Battalion and the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab on Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms
Ukraine War Talk. Why the talk of an offensive?
Everyone on this blog knows that the major talk is of an upcoming offensive.
My question is why.
From my chair it doesn't make sense.
The losses to the Ukrainian side while not being documented as feverishly as the Russians are still heavy. Real heavy. Additionally while the training of Ukrainian forces is zooming along, they're still suffering manpower issues AND experience issues in their operating forces.
A spring offensive seems risky.
Better to wait till late summer, or early fall. Press hard, win ground (if possible...the Russians get a vote too) and then hold on.
If the assault fails you consolidate your positions and let General Winter do his thing.
Between now and then you build up your forces as much as possible to ensure success.
But they're not doing that. They're pressing ahead. Like I said, from my seat its too early. If they win ground they'll be pushed back and it won't be decisive.
Chinese future armored fighting vehicles are gonna be different...

They want Marines on Fuga Island but that's still a problem...
Marines on an island 22 square miles large? Stealth will help keep them from being targeted? A ruthless Chinese Commander will simply expend enough munitions to micrfragment every single square mile of the place. I don't believe theyr'e worried about the Chinese. I think they want American dollars flowing...“We want the marines and the coast guard here to protect the island. If it’s just us village officials, we cannot cover the entire area,” says Melchor Visario, the village chief on Fuga. https://t.co/ByVRApQETo

Anyone have any info on this freakishly large explosion somewhere in Ukraine?
That almost looks nuclear. What type munition gives off a cloud like that? What gets hit and puts off a cloud like that?Welp, Ukraine looks pretty interesting right about now. https://t.co/FjvH88WqIK

The Pentagon needs to inform the public about peer vs peer "games"...what happened with the UAV was nothing compared to what has come before or what we'll soon see
Yeah.Unprofessional, unwarranted, & dangerous. These antics don't always end without loss of life. Take the 1968 Essex incident for example.pic.twitter.com/bQ5mUMOSW5 https://t.co/2k3YtkjxNP

Exclusion Zones are real...think back to the Falklands War!
via Wikipedia...
On 30 April, the Task Force imposed a 200-mile Total Exclusion Zone around the Falklands, prohibiting all aircraft and ships from any country from entering. British special forces, the Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm attacked Argentinian ships and defences.
Exclusions are rather rare today but they've been used during times of war for a long long time.
In an earlier post I wondered aloud (much to the annoyance of my readers) why the Russians didn't just setup an exclusion zone around the Crimea and be done with it.
I mean everyone and their mother knows that the US is running intel flights to gather targeting data for the Ukrainians. Additionally its obvious from the actions of the SU pilots that their leadership is a bit beyond annoyed by it.
An exclusion zone would be a simple fix that even this blogger could think of so why aren't they doing it?
Easy.
Because this is the most jacked up war I've ever seen. There are no lessons learned from this one. This is a complete clusterfuck that would be funny as hell except that so many are dying and the destruction is beyond imagining.
