Is the govt's response to this mild virus setting us up to get clobbered by a bigger, deadlier one?

Water cannons fired at anti-lockdown protesters in Germany. Authorities worldwide are gonna have to find another solution...

Authorities worldwide are gonna have to find another solution to the coronavirus spread problem. Locking people up won't work and the public finds that to be rather draconian sliding toward totalitarian.
I have yet to understand why the vulnerable aren't being told to shelter while the healthy can continue with their normal activities.
My only guess?
There must be something they're not telling us that alarms officials. Could it be a strain that can mutate into something truly horrifying? I have my suspicions because the reaction seems to be the same worldwide (and the public response with its re emergence).
Oh and don't think that the frustration is just in Europe. It's especially strong here in the US. Don't believe me? Check out this tweet about the Mayor Of Chicago.
#Chicago mayor calls for canceling #Thanksgiving over #COVID concerns yet celebrates in the streets with thousands of #Biden supporters https://t.co/mQQgNDHMOJ

Long story short? Officials are at the very least gonna have to live by the same rules they force us to live under or the next elections are gonna be Titanic and without the force of a presidential election you can expect conservative candidates to have a HUGE red wave sweep over the US in even deep blue areas.
Sidenote. I find it interesting and a bit perplexing that now they're looking to dig deep into the lives of private citizens and call for NOT having Thanksgiving dinner with your loved ones. I look forward to seeing how this plays out. Understand this. When they told people that go to church that they couldn't AND the various church leaders went along with it I was shocked. All I could think of is various communities have risked life and limb to attend service LITERALLY but they still did it. Today? The church completely capitulated. Now they're going beyond that and telling people to go a step further and not gather with friends and family. If that's not house arrest I don't know what is!
Issues with comments on DISQUS...
This post is to address the issue with Disqus and comments being deleted. This has been an ongoing issue and while I'll hit the ban hammer or even delete comments from time to time what brought this to head (at least for me) was when Bayou Renaissance Man commented on the comparison between the Type 16 MCV and the Centauro II.
It was well written and when I read it thought that it was one of the many outstanding comments I've seen on these pages (my core readers are so fucking awesome it hurts).
But to the issue at hand. I didn't delete it. I checked my spam box in Disqus and didn't see it there. Long story short I don't know what happened.
The problem.
Many of us have that still use this form of social media (its dying ... I find that funny but blogging seems to be going the way of the Dodo bird), we all seem to have migrated to Disqus when it comes to posting comments. The only other solution is to go back to using Google comments but most seem to be GENERALLY happy with what we have.
So there you have it. I'm not deleting comments (for the most part) and for some reason they seem to be disappearing for no good reason. My research (quick Google search) indicates that its a problem all over the web so we just have to deal with the quirks of the world wide web.
If you have a solution then hit me with it. I'm open to ideas on this one!

Coronavirus cases are spiking and they're starting to close the economy again...if they do it nationwide could it lead to a depression?
Monitoring the news this afternoon and supposedly covid cases are spiking again. We're starting to see the usual states starting to impose restrictions. The difference this time? Business is pushing back. The hospitality industry is claiming that if they impose restrictions this fall that you'll see widespread closures of business without them returning.
From what I can see, medical officials are back to wailing about how they're being slammed and can't handle all the patients they're getting. The few that I've seen are almost demanding that we have a nationwide shut down for as many as six weeks (if I recall correctly).
I'm stunned.
Oh and I forgot to add. People are already making runs on the stores and stocking up on what they think are necessary supplies.
My worry?
Society is being trained.
No. That's wrong. I think a large portion of our population is being conditioned. Not only to stay at home but to also believe that the govt has deep pockets that can provide. Apparently people have forgotten economics 101 and don't understand that the velocity of money is about to crash hard this time.
Could we be looking at the seeds of the next depression?
I think we might. But add the trauma of a depression with societal chaos (caused by the mental stress that the public will feel from essentially being placed on a nationwide house arrest) and I think we're gonna see the summer of 2020 repeated in 2021 only on steroids.
Convince me I'm wrong on this guys. If I'm right then the ground we're about to travel over is gonna be bumpy as hell.
This time next year we could wish for the relative easy days of 2020.
Some believe that Trump is clearing the DoD so that he can bring home the troops by Jan.
Have you seen the latest news about the Pentagon?
Supposedly Trump is conducting a purge of the leadership so that he can bring home the troops by Jan. A quick pullout of Afghanistan and Syria is in the cards according to some.
What has me spinning is what's left unsaid.
Trump has said to bring home the troops and its obvious that someone has slow walked that order.
That is so deep state-ish that its crazy!
You want a real controversy?
That's it!
If this little theory is true then that means that civilian control over the military is actually a lie. It doesn't matter if the rationale for slow walking the thing is in the best interests of the nation (according to whoever), its still in defiance of orders.
Even if he didn't spell it out clearly there is still commander's intent. Every General falls back on it when it suits there needs so it only makes sense that it should apply to their boss too.
Let's make this a two parter.
1. Do you think the goal is to get troops home soon?
2. Do you believe that the drawdown has been slow walked?

Interesting.
Is this type system the ultimate anti-drone weapon? It will definitely kill them but by the time it does then the drone has done its job and located you. I don't think knocking them out of the sky is good enough. I think you need to blind them too. I'm thinking more electrons less bullets in this type fight.
Time will tell and at least they have something that can actually reach out a bit and kill stuff that flies without spending a couple million dollars to do it.

Interesting isn't it.
We've been told that this airplane is out of the woods, is progressing nicely (even though the full rate production decision has been delayed yet ANOTHER year) and it's the second best thing flying today.
Yet our "special partner" can't get the info it needs?
Something is off here.
The Brits probably won't give us details but this bears watching. The final number of airplanes they buy will be telling. Kinda explains why we would sell this thing to the UAE now doesn't it.
Is this plane a warfighter or a flying con-job?

Don't hate me. Go to Think Defence Twitter Page to hammer on him (LOL!).
But back on task.
I did a back of the napkin comparison and much to my surprise I believe the answer is yes. The Turks ARE BETTER EQUIPPED than their British counterparts.
Stunning isn't it?
Two Contenders Enter...Centauro II vs Type 16 MCV. Which one wins?
This is a little off the beaten trail but I thought it might be a fun exercise. Two contenders enter. In one corner we have the Japanese Type 16 MCV and in the other we have the Italian Centauro II.
First up the Japanese Type 16....
What are the specs? Let me line it out to you. 26 tons. 105mm cannon. Top speed 100kmph or 62 mph.
The competitor is the Centauro II. A big favorite around here. It's specs? 120mm cannon...the equal to most main battle tanks. 30 tons. 105kmph.
This thing is shits and giggles. There are so many factors to consider when it comes to making vehicle comparisons that its really a painful exercise at best to determine this kinda thing.
What I'd like (if you fellas don't mind) is your pick and then an example of how you think the vehicle should be employed to get best use out of it.
