This Royal Marine Advert is the SHIT!!!! Absolutely LUV IT!!!

Compare and contrast this MASTERPIECE with the dog shit that the British Army put out.

What pains me?

My beloved Corps once made vids like this.  Now?  Now we're more in the camp of the British Army.

Maybe just maybe the Royal Marines will lead us back to sanity!!!!

Sidenote.  Inserting myself in the vid would go something like this.

Lt:  What the fuck is wrong with you?  Why the fuck did you break cover like that you almost blew the fucking op!

Me:  Did you see the size of that fucking spider?  If that son of a bitch was crawling on your eyeball you would have broke cover too.  Write me the fuck up but that fucking spider dude!

Lt:  Damn.  That bitch was big but you're still on report.

Me:  Awesome.  But at least I killed the spider!

Russian military to receive 450 armored vehicles...

via URUDPoint.com
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 07th January, 2019) The Russian Ground Forces will receive more than 450 armored vehicles, including T-72B3M and T-90M tanks, in 2019, the Russian Defense Ministry said Monday in a statement.
"In 2019, more than 450 pieces of armored vehicles will enter service in the divisions of the Russian Ground Forces.

As part of the implementation of the state defense order, the enterprises of the defense industry complex will supply the Russian Defense Ministry with modern types of armored vehicles that have successfully proven themselves in operation in various climatic zones," the statement reads.

The ministry noted that T-72B3M and T-90M tanks, BTR-82A and BTR-82AM armored personnel carriers as well as BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles will enter service, among others.
Russian vehicle procurement confuses the hell outta me.  What is the difference between the T-72B3M and the T-90...and why are they buying both models instead of necking down to one.

The BTR-82A and BTR-82AM?  Same question.  Additionally they have other wheeled IFV/APC available of a newer gen.  Why not buy them...or push their development forward and get them to the troops.

The BMP-3 seems damn near immortal.  They're continuing to upgrade that beast and its used by both regular forces, paratroopers and Marines.  I get that one.

So what gives tribe members?  Why the puzzling purchases?

99% of ISIS capacity in Syria eradicated!

via Free Beacon.
Responding to critics of the administration's surprise decision to withdraw U.S. forces from the fight against ISIS in Syria, Pompeo disclosed that the United States has now "taken down" about 99 percent of the terror group's capacity.

"We've taken down 99 percent of the caliphate. Ninety-nine percent of the caliphate. That should be the first sentence in every story. Right? Everybody agree?" Pompeo asked reporters aboard his plane. "Anybody dispute the facts? This has been an enormously successful campaign."

Not a single reporter in attendance disputed Pompeo's figures.
Story here.

Do you get the force of connection here?  Trump was RIGHT!  Our war in Syria is over if its about KILLING ISIS!!!!!  Not one reporter in that press conference disputed that 99% of ISIS capacity is DONE!  Not one!

Yet in the states the media is almost DEMANDING that we be there for more years!

Why?

Because this isn't about ISIS.  I was a fool for ever thinking it was.  Oil pipeline, outflanking Russia...whatever...but it wasn't about ISIS.

Oh and spare me the talk about the Kurds.  Many forget (but I haven't) that they ruffled feathers all around by declaring a Kurdish state.  We warned them off but they insisted and now that we're ready to move on we're suppose to back a play that we don't agree with and that puts them in danger from Turkey, Iraq AND Syria?  Don't think so cowboy!

Our fight is done.  Time to get the fuck outta Syria.  Time to reset, modernize and rest our forces.

This govt shutdown is different. Let me explain why...

Let's talk govt shutdown.  This one is different and I think I know why.  Let me hit you with a few things...

1.  Previous Congress' attempted to take the pain away from this exercise.  They excluded many "essential" govt agencies.  From a personal perspective this makes these things less consequential.  DoD still up and running?  The Justice Dept still dicking citizens and criminals?  The rest I can basically live without.

2.  Federal Workers aren't seen as sympathetic figures.  The media can laud them with platitudes but the fact remains.  People don't see federal workers as people that are coming to help.  Quite the opposite.  If the feds are coming around then you know you're about to be out of some money.  They're money collectors not civil servants now and everyone is clued to that fact.  Whether it's voiced or not!

3.  Despite the media's best efforts people don't care.  I know I don't.  See point number 1.

4.  Trump has a point.  The southern border IS A PROBLEM!  These caravans didn't help the issue one bit either.  Unless something is done the country is going to be overrun.  Sorry.  I know some of you are pro-immigrant.  I'M NOT ANTI-IMMIGRANT...but we need a pause to allow assimilation into our culture. Oh and don't get me started about black leadership on this issue.  Compton, a historically black neighborhood (or is it city?) is now 70% Hispanic.  Is that a problem?  Don't really know.  I know that it's a change.  I know that Hispanic gangs had at one time a kill on sight with regard to Black males and that I was even warned about it when out on the West Coast.  California's problems cannot become the nation's problems.

5.NO ONE CARES!!!!

This one is different.  I hope Trump isn't talked off his stance but confidence is not high.  The guy is malleable.  His instincts are solid (most of the time) but he backs off when confronted.  He's facing pushback and a reformer/revolutionary/change artist must be able to stand firm in the face of opposition.  Haven't seen the dude being able to do that ... at least not yet.

Side note.  This is probably an unintentional inflammatory blog post.  Didn't intend that but don't get mad.  Just refute my points.  I'm open to it.  Hit me with your best shot!

British Army Guardsman pays the price for the Brit Army recruiting campaign....

Thanks to Josephine Carroll for the passage...

Source unknown (hopefully they'll circle back and give it to us)...
Guardsman Stephen McWhirter to quit after ‘snowflake’ ad ridicule

A Scots Guardsman is planning to quit the army after his picture was used below the word “snow flakes” in a £1.5 million recruitment campaign.

Guardsman Stephen McWhirter, 28, from Irvine, Ayrshire, has denounced the adverts and told colleagues he was not told the nature of the publicity when he agreed to his photo being used. Last week his was one of many faces used to try to attract young recruits to the army. The poster with his picture had the slogan: “Snow flakes — your army needs you and your compassion.”

The Mail on Sunday said that according to friends the guardsman, based at Wellington Barracks in Westminster, had been inundated with mocking messages and the army had left him open to ridicule. He said via social media he would resign as soon as possible.

One soldier wrote: “Imagine the army taking a photo of you and writing “snow flake” in massive letters above your head. I’d be signed straight off.”

Guardsman McWhirter responded: “Don’t f***ing worry, mate, I am”, and added that he would formally submit his resignation at the earliest opportunity.

Another soldier suggested that he should complain due to “corporate bullying and harassment”......
Yeah.

This tells you everything you need to know about this recruiting campaign from the guys INSIDE the Brit Army.

So all you SNOWFLAKES trying to tell me that I'm reading this wrong --- GO POUND SAND!!!!

For all of you that think that I'm being reactionary in my view of the British Army.  Consider this.

You have a vehicle roadmap that makes no sense.  You have a 40 Ton ASCOD replacing the Scimitar.  You're gonna continue the ANCIENT  Warrior in service and slap a new turret on it.  You have the Challenger.  Once one of the world's top tanks (if not the best) and instead of steady upgrades you have it locked in the world of the 1980's.  Your fabulous light infantry is saddled with a substandard battle rifle and on top of that you're doing this stuff.

So tell me again why I should believe the Brit Army will continue to carry the day?

Trust me.  I don't say this with glee.  But I'm looking at the damage being done to the USMC and cringe.  I'm looking at what's happening to the British Army and I'm remorseful.  I liked it the way it was.  This new "thing" I don't even recognize.

Marine Corps leadership tries to justify gender integrated platoons....

WEAK SAUCE!!!!

Amazing.  They run back to the old playbook and think it will work again!  They lied about women in combat AFTER they did tests that showed that efficiency would be down and they really expect us to believe that this was done with efficiency in mind????

Are you fucking kidding me!!!!

Jesus H. Christ!  How stupid do they think we are!  This is the "validation" bullshit that they always trot out before they make a change!

This is permanent men.

You wanted a clear delineation between old and new Corps?

It's right before your eyes.  Watch it.  Drink it in.  Think about those so called devil dawgs that you lauded that allowed this to happen...then watch the body bags get filled when we fight a peer threat.

They know better but instead of holding fast they yield to the weak and feeble that push stupid agendas.

Picard was right.  The line must be drawn here.  No farther....

Survey: U.S. Military Tired of Iraq, Afghanistan’s ‘Occupation’

Thanks to AL Z for the link!

via BreitBart.
The vast majority of U.S. service members and veterans believe the American “occupation” of Iraq and Afghanistan has lasted long enough, but they still support the ongoing war on terror raging since October 2001, according to the results of a survey published this month.

Smithsonian Magazine reports that after more than 17 years of the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, 84 percent of the 1,031 service members and veterans surveyed agreed that the “occupations” have “been going on too long.”

“As far as we know, this survey was the first one to pose that question to current and former service members,” the magazine notes in its January edition.

“Their frustration is significant because they also voiced strong support for the war on terror generally, with 83 percent saying it should continue,” it adds.

The results echo the Afghanistan war weariness expressed by overall Americans in a survey published by the Pew Research Center last October.

Smithsonian Magazine also reports that nearly a third of U.S. troops and veterans believe rival powers (36 percent) and terrorist organizations (38 percent) are a major national security threat. The rest believe rogue nations (18 percent) and criminal groups (8 percent) are the top menaces facing the American homeland.

A recent study by Brown University’s Costs of War Project reveals that the war on terror has killed between 479,858 and 507,236 people in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, including at least 6,951 American troops.
Story here.

My theory.

Do you remember when the Pentagon went full bore at NFL football games, NASCAR races etc...?

My thinking was that they wanted to boost support for the war.

To a large part they've succeeded.

They raised the profile of the military but at the same time did something insidious.

They conflated supporting the troops with supporting the wars.

Think about that.  If you oppose a war started by policy makers or how its conducted by military leadership then you're opposing the troops.

That's pure evil but it worked and now it has most of the public tied in knots.

Luckily I don't have that problem.  I fucking support the troops with every fiber of my being, while at the same time having no problem stating that it's been fought stupidly and the rationale for the fight was utter bullshit.

Yeah.  I support the troops and slam policy makers and military leadership where appropriate.

But!

This story gives hope and should raise alarm bells in Washington.  Who wants to stay in uniform if they know that for the next 10 years they'll be doing rotations back to Afghanistan/Iraq/Syria and when they get home they're gonna get their dick slammed in the dirt by doing exercise after exercise?  Who would want to enlist into an organization like that?

Once upon a time you've served for the duration of the war.  Now?  Now wars last more than two decades.

Shit is broke and the troops are fully aware of it.

Italian AV-8B Harrier Takes Off From Kearsarge....Video by Petty Officer 2nd Class Ryre Arciaga

Still think this is nonsense on a stick.  Think about it like this.  Russia is a landpower.  So if we're pushing interoperability with the Europeans then the question is why.  To project power along the shores of Europe?  Doesn't seem necessary.  Naval assets assigned to Europe are beyond what is necessary to handle any emergency there.

But we see little of this in the Pacific.  That's where we could POSSIBLY use allied airpower aboard ship to bolster our own but its hardly seen there.

This is further subsidization to float European defense at the expense of our realigning our forces to deal with the real threat....China!

Never took corporate censorship seriously but its here and it's real!

Corporate censorship is here.  I didn't believe it but it hit me so I now know it's real as fuck.

See the above pic?  People have joked that it looked like a penis sticking out the front of the tank.  I took it as juvenile joking and left it at that.  Never in a million years did I think some playful banter would actually lead to a pic being in violation of standards...especially a pic of a freaking tank but there it is!

Additionally remember the real short blog post I did about Mossberg's new pistol?

Google sent me a note saying that it was in violation because it depicted weapons!

Does this affect you?

Not at all but be aware.  It's my CONSPIRACY belief that we've wandered into the land of corporate censorship.  In other words corporations are trying to set standards of decency instead of the community.

Show pics of people smoking weed?  Cool as the other side of the pillow.  Show a pic of a pistol, or some other type of gear?  WRONG ANSWER!

I kinda wondered at the time what the deal would be with all the Nazis being outed following Charlottesville.  Don't get me wrong cause I think their cause is bullshit, their followers idiots and I wouldn't waste my piss on them or stop to render aid if I saw one of the bastards in an automobile accident.

But for people to lose jobs and to basically be run off the internet?  To additionally shutter the websites they frequent?

That seemed like a step too far and now I know that instinct was right.

If we allow shit we don't like to be censored (within community standards, not at all promoting child porn or any other type idiocy/immorality) then eventually they'll get to stuff we do like.

This is just a heads up guys.

Corporations have decided to slice the baby.  Instead of bringing jobs back to our shores or paying people decent wages they've decided instead to become paragons of virtue (or is it virtue signal?) by sticking a finger in the wind and cater to certain beliefs they feel will generate goodwill.

Somehow, someway we need to make them pay for their stupidity.

Brit Army supporters are tying themselves into knots trying to justify the RIDICULOUS recruiting posters!

The Pinstripped Blog has an incredibly stupid (for them...they're usually solid) take on the IDIOTIC recruiting posters the Brit Army has unveiled.

This is the last groans of a tired empire whose time has come and gone.  If this is any indication then the Brits should NO LONGER be considered reliable allies.

I hate to be cruel especially when I absolutely adore their martial past, but what will they bring to the table in the future?

Tanks?  Challenger is damn near obsolete.  Mech Infantry?  It's in flux and we have no idea what the final form will take.  Light Infantry?  These posters point to the future and I don't want a class clown, a zombie or the like to be manning a post or watching anyone's back much less a US Marines!  Carriers? You're kidding right?  We're gonna have to post aircraft to them and we're doing it under the fig leaf of "interchangeability"?  What idiot really believes that shit?

We should adopt a realistic military posture.

Poland, The Netherlands, Italy and a couple of others are better positioned to be our focus than the UK.

Sorry Brit readers but the sun has set and the most you can hope for is a few full moons to light your future.

Yellow Vests allow safe passage for an ambulance...

Geez!  These protests are still going on?  Macron must be feeling like a King being besieged by peasants!

This is beyond delicious!  This is sexy as hell!  Even better?  The news media in the US is acting like this thing is over but its not!

Could a wave of nationalism really be taking hold worldwide?  Could globalism really be on its deathbed like I've surmised for so long?

If the Yellow Vests are any indication then yes to all of the above!

Vive La France!

Why do our Infantry/Ground Units need aerial support against insurgents? We have since Vietnam...WHY!!!!

Tyler has an article up on the Drive that describes an A-10 sortie that rescued several ground pounders.

Question.

Why do our infantry units, correction, why have our infantry units devolved to a point where they need fire support from aerial assets when engaging enemy ground units?  Even in ambush scenarios I would expect our infantry units to repel those attacks (up to a limit of course) without support!

Even worse?

This has been the case since Vietnam!

We have yet to sort ourselves out and to work the problem of enemy ground forces being able to successfully engage our own and not only that bring heavier weight of fire to that fight.

Whether its air or artillery we always  seem to fall back on supporting fires to solve these tactical problems.

My main issue is that this will be a problem in a peer vs peer fight.

If our infantry cannot overwhelm an attacking force organically then supporting fires MIGHT NOT be available.

The idea that we'll always have an A-10 that can make passes seems like a fleeting comfort (I won't even get into the idiocy of "shows of force" that we demand of our pilots when every pass should be placing steel on target).

What say you?

Side note.  A quick remembrance of history seems to indicate (if my memory serves correct) that this whole thing started with small unit activity in Vietnam.  You would have USMC Force Recon units operating far from supporting elements and they would sometimes engage battalion sized NVA and of course you'd have air support stacked above them providing support. The same applied to SEALs, Green Berets and Rangers.  This is how it started but also remember that these were SMALL units.  I'm talking about sometimes 3 or 6 men total.  That was the genesis of this whole thing.
